I'm with you 100%.
We've been commenting on this in the "Superbowl" thread.
You're kidding right? Every Superbowl half time show I've ever seen has been complete and utter shit. Someone link me to ONE decent half time show and I'll be floored. It is impossible to have a live performance be entertaining for television. Blaming a terrible half time show on Janet Jackson is like blaming getting stuck in a snow drift on the population of Meerkats in Africa.
you guys should have just been in our superbowl thread. lots going on in there!

Halftime show. AKA The Geritol Special. Worse than last year, if that's possible.

It made me feel old.....
Me too. I like The Who. Not one of my all time favorites but I thought the show was predictable and boring.
It did bring back the memory of when my hair used to look like Rogers did. :)

Well Stuart, what Janet Jackson did for TV in general is interesting. Now we have the built in delay's to ensure nothing inappropriate gets shown.
Next year's Half Time show will feature Buddy Holly. They'll have to dig him up first, but he's sing/play just as good as The Who did.

And the year after that will be Elvis.
If there is any part of European society that I actually find desirable, it is television for sure. That actually goes for pretty much every other countries television (probably not China). Have you seen the shit they show on Al Extremo? We were watching a video of a guy stabbing a lady in the street (60+ times) the other day. He stabbed her in the chest and neck area for about 3 minutes before someone finally got up the balls to pull him off. I looked all over the internet to try and find the video to show you guys, but I couldn't find it. Can you believe that? There was a video shown on television that I couldn't find on the internet!
It was a little fitting, the who and the who dats? Cmon...

I remember a layover in Sicily years ago, off base in a surprisingly nice hotel. I sat down and turned on the TV. It was a German channel, and there was content that you only see on Skinimax or pay per view here. Great for me, but I wouldn't want my kids seeing it.
I know that this would never fly with the majority of viewers, but you know what a good half time show would be? An amateur boxing match. I've seen my fair share of Super Bowl shows, and I would rather spend the time in the bathroom or watching an infomercial than spend my time watching the trash that the network thinks will be entertaining.

How 'bout cage fighting? We can throw in an Ultra-liberal Democrat and a Super-conservative Republican, and watch the fur fly!
I almost typed MMA, but there is too much grappling for the average super bowl viewer to appreciate or understand.

Now that's a show I'd love to watch - EXCEPT... it seems that the only folks the Right Wing can ever seem to muster are old over-the-hill types (okay, Palin was an exception, but I wouldn't want to put her in the ring with a guy).

I had several immediate thoughts of where to go with this, however I managed to decide that discretion was the better part of valor.....[ROFL1]

I don't know why you guys didn't enjoy that half time show, I thought it was pretty good. Of course all half times are not going to be that great given the time they have to preform. I'm not old enough to remember The Who back in their hay day, but I have went back and listened to some of their old music on youtube. And they actually, I thought, sounded better! You could understand kinda what they were saying, and they seemed to still enjoy playing...and I have to give anyone kuddos for being that old and still enjoy performing!
And I thought the lighting, lasers, and pyrotechnics were done really well. All in all I thought it was the best half time show I've seen! [Punker][Punker][Punker]

Ryan, if you liked that presentation, you would have LOVED them in their prime!
I would have liked to see this during the halftime show.
