View Full Version : *OFFICIAL* Super Bowl Commercial Discussion
What was your favorite?
For me it was the human dolphins, until the Doritos Samurai played. that is now my favorite!

Doritos Samurai. What company actually shows a person spitting out the food they are trying to advertise on the commercial? And are the chips so stale and solid that they can pierce my skin?! And does that guy have orange carpet in his house or does he leave the dorito suit outside? [ROFL1]
Can't say I had a favorite, but the bud light ones were rather good.

I liked the Doritos ad with the dog best. I didn't think some of the Bud Light ads were all that great, although the house built with Bud Light cans was good.
Doritos with the kid that slaps his Mom's Boyfriend!

I liked the one where the guy got to drive the car he wanted, due to all the concessions we make to our wives on a daily basis. I was pointing at my wife for almost every example (recylcing, lip balm, laundry, ....), and she couldn't reply, because she was laughing too hard. It looks like I get a new car!

Congrats!
My personal favorite was the Doritos dog collar commercial. Of course, the KGB Sumo wrestler was a close second (Bring it on, fat man!)
According to the radio this AM, the #1 (based on some poll) commercial was the Snickers/Betty White commercial, next was the Doritos Dog Collar commercial, and third place was the Bud Light House commercial.

Glad to see you made it back safely.
Enjoy the vacation?

Funny, we had the same discussion! I'm getting a new truck here in a couple of months.

It's only because I'm a poor Defense contractor who can't afford a new computer so I had to use my antiquated system which is considerably slower than your system.
Yeah; that's the ticket.

Good.......make that, adequate, try.
I'm sure the DoD has some faster computers you can repurpose ;)

Hmm. You don't know the DoD as I do.
I just upgraded one of my networks from Windows NT to XP a year ago this past December. As it is, the PC's I replaced them with are already 5 years old.
We've still got systems that use DOS - YES, DOS! In fact, the application that runs on these systems will not run on anything faster so when a PC dies they have to go to eBay to replace the system because the newer systems won't run DOS correctly. They've been working on an upgrade to the application. The upgrade is being coded to work with XP - not Vista or Win 7, XP. Since XP is no longer available (even to uncle Sam) and is no longer supported by Microsoft, the "new" version of the system is behind the power curve and it hasn't even been released yet.
That is the DoD that *I* know.

Yeah. I've had an XP computer for several years now, and now that Windows 7 is just coming out.....I just got a new laptop with Vista.

So, how does anyone feel about the diesel Audi "Green Police" commercial?
While I thought the commercial was funny by itself, I'm also afraid that the reality of the scenario isn't too far in our future.

My unit was the first on Schriever to go totally Vista for our Base LAN machines. It caused a major learning curve for the base. We did a total replacement of our workstations because the equipment was so old and kept dying on us. I did the installs for all of the machines - never having tocuhed Vista before. I had to learn it REAL QUICK so I could train all of my users. Yeah, that was fun!

I thought they were trying to be funny. In a bad way. WAY too close to what a lot of the green freaks want. Reminds me of an old Sci-fi thing I saw once where a cop in some sort of aerial vehicle stops an old man in a car, asks him what it is, the old guy tells him it's a classic (something or other), the cops thanks him, gets back in his "cruiser", goes up and blows him away with a missile.
I didn't get a laugh out of any of the commericals this year. I chuckled at a few but no real laugh... kind of sad.
I do love seeing the Bud Clydesdals though. If I ever get a "spread" I really want a working horse.
I was watching the game with a bunch of conservatives like myself, so the ad just brought up a big discussion about Congress banning incandescants...
I was suprised to see only one Clydesdale ad this year...some people are saying that the Betty White Snickers ad was best...was pretty amusing, thats for sure!

I've wanted a "Draft Horse" since seeing the movie Ladyhawke (Matthew Broderick, Rutger Hauer/1985). Awesome big horse. When I lived in the St. Louis area we used to go to Anheiser-Busch's "Grant's Farm". They have a small Clydesdale stable there where they rotate some of their stock through. All I remember about that is my wife and her friend commenting on the size of the horses, ah, manhood.
i run xp on my laptop and desktop. its time for a new laptop though...windos 7 for sure
the audi commercial would be reality if the tree huggers had their way. no doubt about it.

Pipe down sniper. You're supposed to be traveling and in-accessable to the net/Forum.

Since our grandkids always play slugbug while in the car, we thought the VW ad with everyone slugbuggin pretty funny. I like the Amish guy slugging his partner.
The Audi green ad was kinda chilling in it's potential.
Overall kinda lame year for SuperBowl ads, IMO.
to put things a little in perspective i have already burned over 1000 gallons of fuel today!
and that really isnt that much!

You're really gonna have to work harder at this, Sniper. You're only up 24 today so far! Ginsue is workin' it!
I think we should move to better environmental practices, but that ad with the Green Police pissed me off. I believe what I said was, "If it gets to that point, it's time to revolt"
The migration to reduce/reuse/recycle can be done smartly without the need for stupid shit. However since there's a pork barrel involved somewhere, and extremists shouting at both sides, we can be sure that nothing will go smartly or smoothly.
What sucks about getting old is that you turn into a cynic.
Oh, and on the subject of "going green", have you noticed that companies really embrace it when they can do something that saves them money and explain it away as being "green". I was just in hotels, and they all have the "If you hang the towel on the rack we won't wash it, because that's green" placards and I always think, "You do it because it saves you money, don't lie."

You go, Ginsue. Make him work for it!
I saw two commercials. Part of the one where the guy goes to the book club, and that terrible one where the bull breaks through the fence to run next to the horse.
I intended to watch the Superbowl this year, but I ended up watching Snatch on the computer, drinking, and sewing up the pocket in a pair of pants. Then when Snatch was over, I was feeling cheeky and came on here to bust balls about being surprised that the halftime show sucked balls.
