Here is a small vault I built today. Wish I could build this for my house...maybe overkill for a gun safe/room but hey it would be nice to have!

I have built much larger vaults but these are my favorite as it only takes my about 6hrs. to build.

Here are the walls waiting for the door to be put in.

Here is the door swinging into place.

The door put into place and waiting for the header and roof panel(dont mind my nephew saying hi[Coffee])http://i435.photobucket.com/albums/qq75/opie011/photo-16.jpg

Finally here is the finished product...well from my part. It gets completely finished by the contractor!

That's pretty cool. I can see why they'd need such security, seeing as how this is apparently an outdoor bank...

This vault has one of the highest ratings on the walls...being 9" thick. And yes they usually build the bank around the vault but I have built some inside existing buildings, not very fun though!

What is written above the door? Something cool or just construction crap?

What class the vault is rated and the UL rating and where it came from. There are only three factories in the US that precast these.

I see. If it were mine. Which I do wish! I would have something personal put in if possible. Maybe........something constitutional or 2A ish.

I wasn't reading very carefully, and thought that this was for your house!

It's almost anti-climatic to look at the pictures backwards. I saw the door, etc. and then saw how small the inside of this vault will be.

For the cost of the whole thing you'd think they'd want someting twice that size.

I have no clue what this vault cost but I'm sure it's a pretty penny. It only holds two stacks of SD boxes and that's it.

Well, at least their contents will be secure.

I would like one of those in my house about 10 times larger though.

I would love to have something like that one day in my house, but a room about 50x40 would be nice!

Pretty cool...

I have an idea for something similar if I can ever get my garage built. One side would just be a regular garage and the other side would have a basement/storm bunker with a reinforced concrete roof. The shop would go on top of that.

Oh well... Time and money, precious little of either.

I know a guy who has a vault in his basement and it just cost him to put it together. He had to take apart a vault at a bank they were demolishing and he just kept all the panels and door. He built the vault on some land he had then built his house right on top. So jelous! I also know a guy here in Colorado that has a room with a huge Fort Knox door for his gun room. Also he has a an underground shooting range in that room but shhh no one can know[UZI]
