At the risk of starting a "my dodge can kick your ford's butt, etc..." arguement, I have a quick quesiton that I'm hoping somebody will answer for me. I've got a '02 F250 and someone (maybe me) messed with the manual locking hubs. Ford only printed the "lock" and "automatic" positions on in this particular year, in other years I've seen them pressed in the metal. Anyway, mine are completely illegible, so I'm wondering if anyone knows if the positions for those settings. Is it clockwise for both hubs? or are they directional for each side? I'm hoping one of ya wouldn't mind taking a look and shooting me a quick answer on this.
Thanks. [Beer]
On my 89, its clockwise to lock on both hubs.

My 01 with the vacuum hubs is clockwise on both sides to lock. Don't worry my ford can kick any Dodge's butt![Beer]

Haven't seen a fast Ford around Longmont. What color is it? 1/4 mile times? HP? Just interested in fast diesels especially a 7.3 PSD.
FORD?[BooHoo]
just kidding...actually I like ford. I really like that they didn't take a bailout and now they are doing better than all of the car manuf.
I'll stick with GM thanks to the employee pricing though [Coffee]
+1 clockwise to engage on both sides.

Soooo I have a 96 whats this Auto? Mine is Free or Lock. Is Auto so you can engage it from the cab and if that fails like they used to you can manually lock them?

Correct! I replaced mine with Warn Premium lockers for $200 a set. Free / Lock and then I switch from the cab if needed.

White 350 with gun metal grey on the bottom that wraps around the wheel wells. Never on a dyno, never at the track. Math wise i should be around 400+ hp and 750+ tq. I do know it can beat my mustang at this point and that runs 14's. I know it's not the fastest thing out there but for a 5 ton truck it moves.
I have a Dark Blue CC F350 and put out about the same HP. It's fun to drive around and play with sports cars. I'm in Longmont a lot so maybe I'll see you around.
Do people still chain trucks up to each other and try to out tow each other in 4wd? Or do they only do that down south?

I did that a few years ago with my 89, rocks broke my back window but I won...! They do it at the boulder county fair every year usually during the tractor pulls.[Beer]

Mines CC long bed, if you see it parked I've got a rubber chicken on a noose hanging from the rear view!

Ha. Just my luck. The hubs were set correctly, the "automatic" engage is not working. They work when I lock them in manually, just can't do it from inside the cab. Oh well, I'll put it on the to-do list.

Sorry to hear that.

Put them on manual and then activate from the cab when you need 4x4. That's what I did when I drag raced before I switched out to Warn Premium Hubs.

That's probably what I'll do when the conditions justify it, just don't want to leave them locked all the time and chew down my BFGs. Good advice, though. Thanks.
It wont chew down the tires. I run mine locked all winter and only activate from the cab when needed.

It wont ruin your tires but it will eat your gas mileage.
