Hello All. Well, I'm about as NOOB as it gets, I don't even have an AR yet! But it is going to be my next aquisition and I tought I'd stop in here and do some research. I've pretty much decided on a Stag Arms 2L, because I'm a lefty. I've been compensating in a right handed world for over 50 years and decided to go with something just for me. Do any other leftys here have experience with a left handed firearm? You know, after shooting firearms made for right handed people all my life I'm worried that getting a left handed gun will require serious adjustments. It's good to be here, don't mind me, I'll just be looking around for a while but I'll make sure to ask if I have any questions. ~John

Welcome to the forum! You can't go wrong with Stag, I have one (RH) and love it. There is a gentleman here (sn Stag Lefty) that I'm sure could answer your questions!

Welcome John,

Good to see another Pueblo guy here! What part of town are you in?

I'm out in the lanes toward Avondale myself.

Hello GreenScoutII,
I'm near the center of town, over by Dutch Clark stadium. So out of curiosity, do you have a place to shoot near Pueblo, other than Pueblo West? My cousin belongs out there and says we can go anytime I want but I hate to impose on him all the time. ~John

Well, I have 40 acres with a decent berm right here at home. Being able to shoot on my own property is a lot of the reason my wife and I moved out to the sticks[Tooth]

River's edge has a range out on 44'th lane. Mainly they are a shotgun club, but I understand they just installed a 200 yd range and they have a 1000 yard range planned. I haven't yet checked it out though. Arctic shooting supply downtown is connected with it and they have brochures and info at their store.

Also, there is a handgun range in city park right next to the zoo. I don't know the specifics, but my cousin shoots there occasionally and he says its pretty decent.

I go out to Pueblo West for the steel prairie dog match every month myself. Should have been out there today, but it was cancelled due to weather.

I've only been down here two years myself so there may be something else I'm not aware of.

Are you new to the area too?

I was just out at that range earlier this week, it's called Pueblo Municipal Shooters. They have public nights Tuesday through Thursday, 7-9pm or so... check their website for the exact details. I took the g/f to shoot her new .380. It is a nice range, I'm thinking about joining. It's $60 one time, plus $80 a year, so $140 to get started -- but I think that covers family.

I have my name on the Pueblo West waiting list, I need to find out when they start bringing in new members. As I understand it, for PWS you need to call on January 1st to get your name on the waiting list, and as previous members fail to renew they call down that list. I called on the morning of Jan 1 so hopefully my name is at the top of the list... I guess we'll see.

There's Artic Shooting Supply on 6th street, they seem to have the best selection in town. There's Rich's place on 12th street, I think it's RJ Sports? They have both guns and R/C airplanes in there, and it's a nice place to stop in and chat with them for a while. They have a gunsmith in there on Fridays, I had them do some work to my AR. And in Pueblo West there is a new place right next to the Wal-Mart.

That's the only places I know of in Pueblo area, but I've only been here for 2 and half years. Oh, and a friend told me there's a place out in Fowler.

Welcome!

You do realize that AR's are like potato chips....you can't have just one!

I'm a lefty as well and, like you, have had to try to use right-handed guns. I have a Stag 1L and am finally able to enjoy shooting an AR without worrying about catching hot brass down my shirt or in my face. I also shoot a left-handed bolt. It's great!

I can highly endorse lefties using and shooting a firearm designed and built for lefties.

Hi, I live in CC, close to Pueblo. I shoot out at PW too, there is a place just south of the power plant too. I hear the Artic place is really nice. I still need to go out there. Plus those guys are really cool, they might be able to get that rifle for you.

Welcome aboard! I'm in the area too- west of the reservior south of florence. Shoot at Canon City's range, and on the list for PWSA also. Stag's are good rifles, you shouldn't have any problems with them at all.

Are you north or south of the river? G/f and I drove around out there, saw a big little league type baseball game going on in a park. Seemed like nice quiet area.
