View Full Version : Savage 110 BA
anybody see one of these yet or had the opportunity to shoot one? I am drooling over them as I type this. I want one in 300 win mag. I started collecting a bunch of brass already because I know I want a nice tactical gun in 300 win mag.
anyways, just looking for opinions or hands on info about it.
here it is for those who haven't seen it. prepare to see what your credit limit is though.

Its being offered in 338 as well. Cost is around 2200.00 and thats a very good deal for the amount of rifle being offered. NRA wrote it up in thier Rifleman mag this month. I have not held one but the rifle write up made me drool. I think it could be a real winner. Save up for high end optics and get a low priced rifle with high priced features. Pretty cool.

They're nice, but they're not military rifles. Just saying.

Yeah I was going to make a thread in GD about it because we don't have a hunting rifle forum, or even a tactical rifle forum. so this was my next best spot.

I was wondering about that because I haven't got my magazine in so i wonder if the woman left it somewhere without telling me or if I need to renew my membership again

Looks like they were/are trying to direct market against the new M-24 upgrades.
10 years in the making the M24 upgrade 300 WM prototype looked like that. It has since gone through another evolution and no longer has that skeletonized stock. Even though rifles like that are being fielded having been earily issues.

I would not mind getting some trigger time with one of the 338's but I am not made of money.[Rant1]
Sick rifle! But ouch on the pricetag! Going to have to leave this to you big bankroll boys . lol.
It's in the new issue of American Rifleman.

A lot of input from team Savage on this gun. They shot way better groups with it than the author. The one thing I don't like are the side rails, are you going to put a light on a long range rifle?
Maybe you'll put a Knights Armorment Ipod mount so you can use the range calculator app.

personally I'd put forward grips on all 3 sides so you can shoot the rifle from any position.
High powered visable and/or IR laser maybe?
I'd love to have one, but that is a year or two away from joining my collection. And even then, I'll be torn between it and the Barrett 98Bravo.

I am kind of a Savage fan and I considered one long and hard. Great rifle and a unique design that is sure to be a headturner at the range. Phenominal accuracy for an out of the box rifle.
Drawbacks to me:
Spendy
Lots of crisp edges
Very heavy-I think they are about 14 lbs.
I went for a 10FP with the HS Precision stock. It is more than capable of doing what I need it to do.
One thing I was going to try if I picked one up in .308- I think with a little work M1A mags could be made to work.
