...What's to drink tonight?
I'm having some burbon!![Beer]
I'm having some serious spy ware problems. I clicked on a link from a site that doesn't mess with the computer, and I instantly got a bad bug. This one sucks balls and is tough. Hopefully I can have it off by tonight.
Otherwise, some Rum and coke sounds nice.

That blows donkey!! Have you tried pestpatrol or adaware?
I would download both AdAware and Spybot to rid yourself of the spyware.
Also clear al of your cookies, and disable 3rd party cookies- they are the no 1 source of spyware.

Best program out there for spyware is Malware Bytes. Go to malwarebytes.org and download the free version. It will pretty much get rid of anything.
It is a program that pretends to be a spyware, so any time you open something up, it pops up and says it is spam. I already have Malwarebytes but I can't get it to run. I've already googled the bug and have some instructions of how to get rid of it (basically run malwarebytes) but malware won't even run. Can I down load Malware onto a flash card and then run it from the flash card instead?
It sucks because my lady always visits D listed, which is like a celebrity gossip site. D Listed is pretty solid and has never caused a problem. She told me to look at a picture and left the room. I sat down, didn't know what she wanted me to see, clicked a link that website suggested and...instant problems. So frustrating.

Start your PC in safe mode then run Malware Bytes.
Which button to I push during start up to get to safemode again? I've been pushing F8, but that only gets me to the screen that gives me the option to reboot with the last safe copy of windows. Thanks for all the help guys.

F8 should give you the option. If not try F10. Otherwise if you are on XP go to Start > Run > and type "MSCONFIG" on the BOOT.INI tab select safe mode and restart.
For Vista F8 should work too, otherwise go the the Start button and in the Search bar type "MSCONFIG" and follow the same steps.
Thanks so much guys. I can't wait to get back home and fix this. I haven't slept all night though, so I'll probably just sleep and do it Saturday.

Re-name the MalwareBytes executeable (mbam-setup.exe) to something different, this has to be done when the file is being downloaded. When you attempt to re-download mbam-setup.exe, rename it anything else when you are prompted to save the file to you machine. The Trojan is locking to block mbam-setup.exe, so if the same program is name for example "test.exe" it should run without issue.
Remember the first one is free...
PS: without seeing the machine i am guessing that this is Windows Antivirus 2009 (trojan) or related

Let me know if you need more help, this is what I do for work. I had to fix a few of these last fall and had good results.
Thanks, I've had pretty good success with going to like noobie.com and stuff. This is the first time I've had a serious bug in many years. I might have some questions about how to rename the file, but we'll see how it goes tonight.
I like the occasional cigar, but I smoke mostly "beginner" cigars. I'm a big fan of sugar tipped Acid cigars, and really like the more natural stuff from parent company Drew Estate (they make Acids). Actually, I prefer the Juicy Lucy and Root from Drew Estate, and have had relatively good results from Cuban Rejects. I like to go in and just ask what they sell the most of, and it is also pretty close to the cheapest.
However, I have tobacco pipes, and not only are they 100 times more smooth and less harsh than cigars, but the smoke smells 100 times better as well. I can smoke a pipe in my non-smoking living room, and the next day, the room just smells like cherries or whatever flavor. If I do that with a cigar, the whole place smells like nasty smoke for three days. I'm currently out of all of my nicer, house blend tobacco. I just have some Captain Black Light right now. I have a full bag of Borkum Riff, but every time I try it, I always get a bag of dry crap that ends up smelling just like cigarettes.

In general, Windows may be able to help you with unwanted changes on your system. Try:
START-> Programs-> Accessories-> System Tools-> System Restore
Make sure "Restore my computer to an earlier time" is the selected task
Click "Next" down below
Click on a date on the calendar when things were running good (has to be bold faced)
Click "Next" down below and follow through with the restart.
This should help with your latest snag. Just be sure you have system restore points (that's boldfaced dates on the calendar for you losers like Stuart) established as free insurance against time-comsuming hunting trips for malware
Delfuego
02-26-2010, 14:42
Don't use System Restore. It will not be able to remove the Trojan and will only complicate the process. In fact the system restore should be shut off and the restore point deleted, or the Trojan may return......

Maybe it's ok for lesser threats/issues? I've had good luck with it, but I'll defer to you if you have the knowledge.

It can help with the minor problems, but with Trojans you have to be proactive. System restore can also save the Trojan in the restore point, which will cause the trojan/virus to continue to be detected. Once completely cleaned, the System Restore can be safely reactivated.

Tonight, same as last night: Shiner Bock.
The previous nights this week were all Heineken. So it was time to change.
All this talk about free beer and no wonder. You didn't tell us it was TERRIBLE free beer. Makes more sense now.
Troublco
02-26-2010, 17:02
Whatchou talkin' bout, Irving?
I like Heineken just fine. And I like Shiner Bock. I could've had Corona, but I don't care for Corona all that much when there's something better available. And the limes don't help it enough.
The other options were Bud, Bud Light, Coors Light, and Miller Light. Which really weren't options at all!
I'll take free Heineken and Shiner Bock anytime. I will say that if Easy Street Wheat had been a choice, there would have been no choice at all!
Or Shock Top, for that matter........
You just go back to whatever non-free beer it is you're drinking, and I'll go back to my free beer.[Beer]
I'd take Corona over Heineken, but would probably go any of the other four listed over Corona. I also have to have lime in Corona. I've never done well with beers in green bottles. I know I've had Shiner Bock, but I don't remember how I rated it.
I never really liked Corona too much. Too skunky. If you like Corona you would probably like a beer called Tsingtao it reminded me of Corona.
Troublco

Amazing. You can post for this, but you couldn't do three lousy posts last night.
And if you'll take Bud, or any of the aforementioned light beers over Corona or Heineken, it's obvious what the problem is. You have NO TASTE!
[ROFL1]
I like darker beers. I can't do Pale Ale at all. I think people that like Pale Ales like the stuff like Heineken and Red Stripe. I'll just have to trust that stuff is good for those who can stomach it, because I can't.

I've had Tsingtao before. It's not bad, but it isn't in my top 10.
Tuborg is another one I really like. (I really liked it each time I was TDY to Turkey! Whheeeeeewwwwwwwww! By the way, never mix drinking Tuborg and Raki (Turkish equivalent to Ouzo). It will flat put you down! Don't ask me how I know, mostly because most of my memories of that time I got later in story form from friends 'cause I couldn't remember!

It depends on which one for me. And Heineken and Red Stripe aren't all that similar any more than a Belgian White is similar to Budweiser. Same thing goes with Dark Beers though, just because they're dark doesn't mean they taste the same. I don't do Guiness, because to me it tastes too much like Coffee. I even had one in Ireland once to see if they were better there, and I didn't care for it. They did have Boddington's, and Bass, and Harp. So I was good....

For Medical reasons I have basically stopped drinking. But every couple of weeks I like a beer or a drink. Having lived in Belgium for 3-1/2 years there are a few that I like. Duvel is one of my favorites along with the red and white top Chimay depending on if I want a light or dark beer.
Tonight though it is pure rot gut Belgian. Stella Artois to the rescue. Of all the good beers in Belgium they import this stuff. Oh, well. better than that billy beer crap that's called Heineken.
Back then Heineken was $2.50 a case. but then so was a carton of Kools.
