Anyone else seen this? Some guy claiming to sell polymer lower receivers, complete for $99 shipped.

I ordered one just for giggles. Going to test it out mid-march with 1000 rounds of .223 and a few thousand .22lr and general abuse a rifle sees when camped out at the range for a week.

Was supposed to ship out this past tues, was told "buffer tube problems" and would ship out this coming tuesday. Starting to get suspicious but hey - can always cancel my order and get a new lower rec made of aluminum for $225 shipped w/transfer fees.

Thank you Mtn Man. That's exactly it.

I'm suspicious of a lot of things about this lower, but again, too good a deal not to give it a try. I'll give a full range report around Mar 20th, supposing this isn't just vaporware.

Was thinking about these the other night...they'd probably be good for a dedicated .22 upper, but I wouldnt trust them to the recoil of a centerfire cartridge...

I am curious, either as a dedicated 22 or a knock around gun, the price is hard to touch.

Recoil from a 223 isn't exactly "demanding" on a rifle either [Tooth]

Should be fine as long as your upper isn't polymer. all the pressure is in the chamber, the lower just houses your LPK which are just mechanical. Hopefully the lower can handle the little bit of wear and tear from the recoil on the pins.
other than that I see no problem. hell if the rest of the parts are standard it is worth it to just buy the complete lowers if they come with the LPK and stock and strip those off.

I'll be curious to see your opinions of this.

Thanks

I wonder if its comparable to carbon 15 or cav arms.

I find these rather fascinating as well. You'll have to let us know about these once (if) it shows up.

Really interested in hearing how it holds up at the range with 1k+ rounds through it.

Well as has been pointed out, all the real stresses on the firearm are put on the upper receiver.

The main problem, according to my readings, is that since the design calls for aluminum, there is at least one weak point if you make it from polymer. Check out where you screw in the buffer tube and where it connects to the rest of the receiver. Pretty thin right? I reckon thats where it'll break if it does.

Now polymer lowers aren't a new idea. Bushmaster (I believe) made them before, as did Vulcan arms (which, like all Vulcan arms things, was shit.) I have heard (but have not confirmed) that the guy who is making these had some kind of hand in designing the Bushmaster polymer lowers, and has tweaked the design a bit.

Enough so that its a viable piece of kit? $99 for a complete lower rec would certainly help bring about quite a change in the economics of a DIY AR-15, but I dunno. We'll see I guess.

Vulcan/Hesse/Blackthorne have been making polymer lowers for years. They have universally blown chunks. Like Pancho pointed out, they had a tendency to break right around the rear takedown pin area.

Still not shipped. I am beginning to get irritated.

a dedicated 22 rifle can use a side folding ACE stock. be something akin to the Sig 522.

Been trying to cancel my order the past 3 days. No answering machine, phone number just rings 20 times and then I get a "we are unable to (something) your call at this time" and a hangup.

Calling my bank up to dispute the charge. Oh well. Lesson learned: if its too good to be true, it probably is.

That sucks. For the money I was hoping it worked out.

I do have one of these lowers. So far, it has worked out fine with 250 rounds through my Rock River upper. The upper was a bit snug on the rear lock pin. but it seems fine now.I was a little concerned about the polimer small parts, but they seem to be holding up fine. For the price, not a bad lower. I think I am going to get a stripped Rock River lower when something happens to this one.

I should call them up, ask to speak to sales and then put them on hold with Barney for about an hour.

How so? IP checks out to the Springs. Other than The profile saying He's about 73, unless you know something I don't, no real red flags that I see.

It's a valid link to a business in Las Vegas, They might not take to kindly to it.

Booth at the gun show had the plum crazy lowers this weekend for $139. Felt night and light but cannot say it felt ruggedly strong.

500ish rounds, still going strong. Couple hundred through my 9mm.
