I'm putting together the pieces to load some .308 ammo and found some once fired but processed brass for sale on gunbroker:

And Lake City as well:

I like the sound of paying $80 less for 500 pieces than new brass. Now I'm wondering is it going to be sized correctly for me, since I thought I needed small base dies for my rifle (DPMS LR308). Does anyone have experience with this? What should I be looking at or considering?

Thanks all!

I have been lucky enough to take a tour. They are the MFG for Black Hills brass. I still have 2000 .308 cases that I bought just before the price went nuts. I have loaded 500 and did not have a hitch.

Sweet, I'm going to give them a call tomorrow! I'm excited to find a reputable, local alternative. Thanks!

+1 on using Scharch. I have used a bunch of their processed .223 brass and have been very happy with it. It runs to about 15 cents per case and includes a CCI primer - not sure if they carry primed .308 though...

I've never heard of Scharch, I had no idea there was a brass manufacturer right here in CO! Might be time for a road trip, I need some .30 carbine and I'd LOVE to see how brass cases are made.

I'm not sure if Scharch is actually making the brass or just buying in bulk from the government auction and processing it... I'm sure someone here can say?

Their 223 is LC mil once fired. Sized, crimps removed and trimmed.

I had to make a few phone calls to get the tour. I will say that it looks very small on the outside. The have there "wall of shame" or as called it 101 was to screw up a piece of brass.

They do both new manufacturing and processing of once fired. they are not set up for store front sales.

Scharch does make their own pistol brass under the Top Brass label, but all their .223 and .308 is reman once fired military/police brass.

WOW! I placed an order with Scharch yesterday for 1000 pcs. of .223 brass, and it just came today! 1000 once-fired military brass that's been de-primed, primer pockets reamed, resized, trimmed to length, then polished.....for $119.50 shipped! And less than 24 hours after I hung up the phone. What a freakin' deal! Stuff looks great! Beats the shit out of bending over and grubbing around in the dirt picking up brass wherever I can find it!

They also take your old brass and give you a pretty good exchange for it. Last time I looked it was $1.76 a pound for yellow brass. That's pretty good. I live in NoCo so shipping would kill me and I wouldn't get as much. I take my old no good brass to Anderson's Salvage in Greeley. They gave me $1.38 a pound. Not too bad since I work down the street.

They had stopped that program last year. I need to get on the ball since I have a 5gal bucket full of Berdan .308 brass. :)
