View Full Version : Furnace/AC repair and replacement
I'm on my own now. Finally! Thanks to all the people that have used me over the years for their HVAC needs. You've guys have helped my daughter get her gymnastic lessons, bought groceries, baseball equipment for my son, and repaired my car when times where lean for me. Thanks for all your support! My family truly appreciates it.
I'm officially working for myself now and have more time to give during the days now, instead of coming in the evenings and weekends and as I've always been, I'm fully insured.
If you need a new furnace, A/C or just need it fixed let me know and we can discuss what needs to be done.
Prefer to stay in NoCo area down to around the Longmont area. I'm sometimes down in Denver area for a large customer I have down there, so I'm not opposed to coming down there, especially for larger jobs.
Thanks,
Bryan Comiskey

Its too bad you didn't post this a couple weeks ago, I may have been able to get you a job. I could've gotten you an interview at least, but I don't hire the techs. We just hired two guys so we are fully staffed right now.

A vent for what? Dryer vent, Furnace vent, bathroom vent?????
Does your client already have a swamp cooler and it needs to be replaced or is this a new install?

Still young and ready to work!!
Anyone have some problems with their equipment let me know.
I also specialize in commercial refrigeration, so if anyone owns a restaurant or other food service company I can help you out as well.
I'm on the plains in Boulder County. I have to replace my furnace (home built in 89; original furnace, Lennox G16 Conservator III), and have been scolding myself for pushing things.
I'm pretty busy through Monday, but this is a placeholder to remind me to talk with you. I'd like to increase energy efficiency (I believe I'm at 80% now with the current furnace) but can't spend a stupid amount of money chasing a couple percentage points in efficiency.
Do you have any experience with the tankless water heaters like the Rinnai? I've been thinking about getting rid of the hot water tank and it wouldn't hurt having someone give me some ideas on what my options are.

I actually went to a Rinnai condensing boiler class. I would have to see what type of options there are for domestic hot water.
In my limited experience with tankless heaters I have seen them to be very expensive. We're talking thousands of $$$ installed compared to $750 for a tank water heater installed. The cost gets very large if you go up to a 90% efficiency. You start getting into different venting requirements with those.
The tankless is good if you use alot of hot water for instance a large family or a commercial application.
The rinnai condensing boilers are very high maintenance also. Unless you are using a lot of hot water and/or have some money to spend, I would recommend a standard tank water heater. There are also high recovery tank water heaters that are better on the pocket book when compared to the tankless.
I could shop around for some tankless options and see just how much they cost.
Thousands... Too rich for my blood.
I appreciate the information. My hot water tank is still working but I know nothing lasts forever. I keep hearing all of the hype on the tankless systems and it would be nice to get something that is efficient and takes up less space. Not worth it though in my house given the current house values.
Hope you stay on the board. If I need AC or heating work, I won't have to flip the yellow pages.
What would a furnace suitable for a 1400sqft house with a ~400sqft finished basement + installation run?
When we had ours serviced a partial crack in the heat exchanger was discovered. House built in 1995 to give you an idea of the system/ducting that's in place currently.

I need a gas line extension installed from the furnace room to behind the stove. Can you do this type of work?

Yes and no. Yes I can run black pipe from your furnace room and stub it behind your stove, but most of the time people are using the flex gas line and I do not know how to use that. I know a plumber that does though.
bryjcom just left. He installed a new furnace, humidifier, filter setup, and thermostat today. No problems; did clean work. I'll recommend his work.
This recommendation gets the banana seal of approval:

I understand this guy does great work.
With this nasty weather we've been having you should ensure your furnace system is up-to-snuff. Someone throw this guy some business!
A/C season is coming up soon.

PM answered. Sorry it took awhile. Been super busy with all the heat and humidity. Haven't had a chance to check the 'puter for a while.
By the way. The cotton wood has been blowing real bad and is plugging up the condensers. If anyone needs a A/C cleaning service let me know. Also good to make sure the charge is correct as well.
Here is my phone # if anyone needs it

Bryan came all the way down to my neck of the woods and got my Trane back on the tracks! As I type this, my feet are frozen inside while it's 86+ degrees outside!

Bryan just installed a central A/C unit in our rental house. His install was clean and speedy. Through all his sweat, our tenants now are sitting cool in this horrible heat!

I have a very noisy 12 year old Evcon furnace, has alwaways been noisier than I thought was normal, but other than 3 igniters, has required little maintenance, also have been thinking central air, but I am in Agate, and very nearly a broke as everyone else
my friend sent me this pic of his house... old unit with reversing valve that went bad so it was heating the house instead! Wasn't even 99 degrees outside...

Passed your info to him...
Hi Bryan, I've been thinking about calling around for prices on AC service (probably refrigerant top off) since the furnace blower seems to run way longer than necessary. Can you pm me if you are willing to stop by the Boulder / Superior area?

Since I'm likely out of range (mileage) Do you have anyone in the Springs area you might refer.
I have a Carrier Central Air unit for my shop that was clobbered in a hail storm earlier this year and the insurance adjuster basically said to replace the whole external unit. Since that storm even the fan has seized up. (not the interior blower, the one that cools the condenser coils)
As we head into late fall this is not a priority so if you wanted more info / pics etc and wanted to quote it as a day job that is good too.
THX
To get an idea where I am, find where Calhan Hwy crosses Hwy 94 east of Colorado Springs.
Bryan just installed a new furnace with variable speed fan and UV light. Excellent work at a very fair price. I would highly recommend his services.

Just wanted to throw out a quick thank you to Bryan. I gave him a call while he was at Tanner Gun Show and he coached me through a repair on my furnace. It was a simple fix. Thank you Bryan!!!!
A/C season is right around the corner. Anybody up in NOCO have and questions?

He apparently got the number wrong.
He's been fixed up since last week. Nice guy and now he has a good working A/C
Furnace season is almost here.
I have my ac compressor unit outside but ABOVE MY FURNACE is the chiller/radiator and its of course enclosed. This summer I noticed rusty water dripping out of it and down the side of my furnace. I suspect the drain tube is clogged possibly with mice bringing insulation into it. It maybe getting too cold? Anyway, I would like to know what's up with it and if it can be corrected. The room it's in is tight, maybe 4ft by 3 feet and it has furnace, chiller, hot water heater and eltro-static filter. Is this something you might be interested in? I live near Bandimere/Red Rocks. P.m. me if this is something you might want to look at.
Seeing lots of service calls related to lack of maintenance... Get them checked at least every 2 years... Filters at least every 3 months.

Thanks for stopping by and confirming it's NOT the HVAC.
Just letting everyone know that I'm getting set up to offer financing.
Also Trane furnaces are starting at $1950 installed for the base model.
A/C season is starting to ramp up. Had a bunch of A/C installs this week. I recommend getting them fixed or replaced before us HVAC guys get busy in the summer. [panic]
+1. Highly recommended. I called Bryan on his cell at 8:40 last night and he fixed my ac by noon today.

Figured I would drop some notes on Valley Heating and Air.
The place I work at was in need of some HVAC work. The guy they were currently using was a constant no show/no answer type of person. I told them I knew someone that would be there any time we need them to and they gave me the green light to get someone new. I called Bryan, he put us on the books, showed up on time and did an outstanding job. Everything from little filter changes/tune up's, to installing (4) new shop heaters.
+1 Highly recommended.
We've switched to valley at my work also. +5 or so now
+1 for Valley and Bryan. I called this Tues PM and someone was here Thurs AM. I expected to be sweating a lot longer than basically a day. Only complaint was that another technician was sent instead of Bryan :-). I was looking forward to meeting another board member but can't complain with the quick and professional response!

I've been limping my builder-grade air conditioner a couple summers now, and once again this year, it didn't have any refrigerant at the start of the season. Called up Valley. One of Bryan's technicians was there promptly, gave me a charge to get me going, and then Brian came to do the leak detection. Found the leak right away, versus Swann, who claimed they couldn't find a leak last year, and that my system must have been low on coolant at the install.
Bryan gave me a realistic appraisal and several options for repair or replacement. I ended up gritting my teeth and having the whole furnace and AC replaced. They showed up when they said they would, completed a challenging job in a day, and now I don't have massive air leaks in my mechanicals room and the house seems a lot more level in terms of cooling.
Nothing but great things to say, and if you find yourself in need of HVAC services in the Northern Colorado area, Valley gets my full endorsement.
