View Full Version : Ritter cracked ribs in a bicycle accident today
NPR just reported that Ritter was on a bike ride with friends when he crashed into another rider. He suffered cracked ribs, but he is in good spirits.
I look forward to some new taxes and unnecessary legislation for bikes.

Already cracked
Aww, I bet he could really go for a hershey bar right now...
Did somebody check the asphalt to make sure it was okay?
I'm sure there will be a shovel ready project on the books creating hundreds of jobs to fix the cracked asphalt by the end of the day....

Amen and perfect fix there BigBear!
Apparently his bike hit a POT HOLE!!
It was evidently NOT a medicinal pot hole.
I've cracked my ribs before, a pain I don't wish on anyone, but I'm willing to make a few exceptions!
Was it because you forgot that other people in the world existed besides you and forgot to yield the right of way?

I must ask, why were you listening to NPR?
Apparently his bike hit a POT HOLE!!
Hmmm, that's the story?.. Mostly, if your IQ is above room temp, Should be able to avoid those...
Nah, he ran into the rear tire of the bike in front of him, he fell over, and took the guy behind him down as well. Then Lance Armstrong sent out some stupid message on Twitter wishing him better. Bunch of clowns.
Speaking of this, I guess Colorado just passed a bill that makes it illegal for kids to not wear helmets while riding their bikes. They had something in there saying that boys had to wear a cup, but that got thrown out, I can only imagine why. As much as I would hate to have something happen to my kid because of some preventable accident, I would hate just as much to have the state not mind its own business and let me worry about my kid on my own. I'm so tired of these terrible nanny laws. Looks like we are late to the party as well...

i am saddened that it wasnt worse...much worse.
Oh,, Playing "wanna be".... See above statement, amended for bike racing...
BFD, sympathy comes b/t shit and syphilis in this case.
Maybe it is karma for granting ag trepass to illegal scum who murder police officers and rape children.
We should wear helmets in cars too.

Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.

Isn't Colorado supposed to have "same laws" for cars and bikes? So, did Ritter get any tickets? He ran into someone in front of him and caused an accident.... wishful thinking I guess.
I heard it was a Tricycle.
That's actually a good question BigBear. Road bikes are supposed to adhere to the same right away stuff as other on road vehicles, but I've got no first hand experience with traffic violations.

Not to throw this off the tracks... but...
Here ya go Stuart:
Invoke God if cops cite your toddler for no helmet (http://www.gazette.com/opinion/cops-94950-house-law.html)
If the kid is in your driveway, can you just tell the officer to fuck off and get the hell off your property? That's what any police officer deserves if they try to write you a ticket for not having a helmet on your 2 year-old in your own driveway. That might sound strongly worded, but officers have the option to not try and enforce bullshit nanny laws and the ones that do deserve to butt heads with civilians.

I agree. Selective enforcement is an option.
I guess the article states that the law is for public streets and places where the public has access to (the park, parking lots). I have a feeling that MOST officers absolutely loath all these new stupid laws that they are supposed to be enforcing. People complain about having such a litigious society, but constantly churning out more and more laws is only making the matter worse. Now when a kid gets hit by a car while riding his bike, is the family going to sue the city for not yanking the kid off the streets because he had no helmet? More laws = more liability = less personal responsibility.

another reason to own property, a long driveway with signs as well as a gate. if they want to try to come in they will have to hop a fence where where dogs will be ready.

more than likely the officers don't know about the law.
the ones that do...what are they going to do, go up to a 6 year old and give him a verbal lashing followed by a ticket?
just another liberal feel good law trying to control the populace. the sheep will get in line.

Yeah - go scream at the kid and his mother and make them both cry - the kid for being a delinquent without a noggin' cover and the mom for not adhering to the state's mandated parenting skill levels.
Aww h*ll - Just take the d*mn kid to social services!
[Rant1]
Make him a ward of the state...

Wait - the store brands usually have those darn RFID's in 'em - it will transmit your location, collect data on your foiling habits AND give you cancer!!

I see what you did there. HAHAHAHA. [ROFL2][ROFL1]

I have resorted to making a helmet from aluminum beer cans! much thicker, and even libtards like beer so I can feel better about a smaller chance they are collecting my info!
