Just moved back to CO after a 6 yr stint in OH. Nice forum.

Looking for a good range, pistol and rifle. Preferrably quiet, not much traffic, to hone skills.

Currently own:
DPMS AP4 5.56 16"
Inland M1 (passed down from my Grandfather)
Glock G32 w/ interchangeable .40 S&W barrell
S&W Model 66-1 (passed down from my father, his old service revolver)

Currently want:
Large gun safe
something .308 (AR10 or FN FAL)
Possibly a 6.8 upper
.22LR AR conversion kit

Welcome.

Lemme see.... You currently live in Colo Spr but lived in OH for a 6 yr stint. Were you, by chance, "incarcerated" @ Wright-Patt?

Oh good heavens! You must be severely traumatized. No one make any fast movements around steincj for a while.

It's okay. You're in a good place now!

You know, most states have a city they like to make fun of. In OH, it's Cleveland.
In CO, KS, MO....., it's Cleveland.

Oh yeah, as far as the range.... Nothing really in the immediate area for rifle and pistol that has "low traffic". There is a private range in Falcon with a sister range in Security. I don't know much about them except they require you to be a member of the NRA. I believe that hte Security range goes out to 400yrds.

There is also "DragonMan's" off of Hwy 94 and Curtis roads. This is a privately owned place where you can shoot both rifle and pistol for somewhere around $10 - $12/day. They don't have a very long range though.

I hope this helps.

That's Frontier Sportsmans Club (http://www.frontiersportsman.com/) ... I'm a member there. Yes you have to be an NRA member because the NRA provides the range with insurance at a good rate.

Nice ranges ... a little heavy on the rules (the Falcon range is paper only, but there is an "informal plinking" range at the Security range that allows steel plates) but overall good folk and its clean and its only $75/yr with no per day fees (no range masters either).

Downside is that membership is limited and we're full so there could be a year or two wait.

There was a free Forest Service range up Rampart Range Road but they finally closed it after a fatality this last year. There is talk of opening a free to the public range down by Ft Carson ... but the pace the city/county does anything who knows how long 'til its open.

I'm not going to comment on Dragon Man's as my mama always told me "if you don't have something nice to say, keep your trap shut!" (although honestly if you get a chance to go out there ... and Dragon Man is in a good mood ... he has a veritable museum of NFA goodies. Just remember to leave your guns in the car when you come in ... he HATES when people walk into his shop carrying their guns).

I'll second that... Frontier is my home range too and I use the Fountain(security) range... Usually not very busy - but then again - I'll go when it is cold too...

Dragonman (Mel Bernstein) is a career criminal that's made a living out of screwing people, he's VERY good at it. Don't support him with your business.

Check this place out, it's close enough to The Springs and offers all you could want. www.blgc.org (http://www.blgc.org)
