I noticed what appears to be some wearing in the upper of my 6920.

It's on the rear of the semi-circular 'cut-out' in the upper (I'm sure there is a correct name for this area). On the attached pics its the shiny area.

Is this normal? I tried searching and 'googleing' but came up blank.

I also noticed that the rifle looked clean until I looked at the closeups:( So out with the cleaner etc. tonight!

Pretty typical wear point. Some rifles will wear more than others in this area. It should wear to a point, then stop.

Thanks for the info. I'll keep an eye on it to see if it gets worse.

Pretty normal-
Keep your bolt carrier wet with a GOOD lube(Not CLP) .
Tetra oil and if it is hot out I will use a touch of Tetra grease.
