What are the license plate numbers for LEO's or whatever other agency may be involved in, or be authorized for traffic control in Colorado? Specifically, 297-URC and 311-URC. I have tried to look it up, but to no avail so far. Not needing any in in depth detail, just want to know if these two license plates on unmarked vehicles belong to any law enforcement agency in Colorado?

Thanks.

I don't know about those particular plates since I am no longer LEO and anybody who looks up those plates are in violation of abuse of the NCIC/CCIC database and can get fired as well as loose their future ability to use the system.

Many municipalities have their own LEO vehicles and can and do register them as city vehicles.

There is no set of numbers or pre-fixes on plates that indicate a LEO.

On a side note:
Under cover officers like vice get a plate that is truely not related to LEO and they have a cover ID and address and name are all ficticous yet will have a history. This is because if you are a criminal and have a LEO friend and they look up a plate or identity id does not come back to a LEO. Unfortunely some cops are dirty and some cops are guilt of helping criminals without consent.

Is this what you are up to?

No one knows? So I was correct to disregard them and drive on the open lane and go around them when they tried to herd me onto I-25? They didn't follow me nor try to pull me over. The one person that got out at an intersection had no gun, utility belt. He pointed the direction for a few cars and then turned his back on a huge traffic jam. Stopped, then looked at the cars for a moment, hesitating, then got back into his vehicle and drove off.

When the "Men in Black" show up at your house at 3:00am to talk to you (or drag you away), you'll know just how good your decision was. By the way, sleep well.

On another note... (sorry if I am taking away from the post, but it could fit with the title) I see a lot of people selling body armor. I have no use for it as I am not LEO, but don't you need a license or be LEO/Military to own a vest with armor? I heard that some some time ago & just wanted to verify.
Thanks, and sorry if I am interrupting.

Anyone can wear body armor, it just increases your charges if you commit a crime while wearing it.

Absolutely not. There were 4 vehicles like this, unmarked and and stopping traffic, trying to herd vehicles over to the right lane. One got out and directed people over into the next lane for 2 cars, then walked back into his car and drove off. After he drove off I went into one of the two turning lanes and turned left. There was still one of these unmarked vehicles in the middle of the lane blocking traffic. He stayed in his vehicle with lights on and never got out. When he saw me turn in the turning lane he followed me. I signaled and turned into the right lane with the rest of the backed up traffic. He pulled right in front of me and turned sharply, cutting me off. 3 vehicles behind me went past and he then pulled out and went down the open left lane. NEVER did he get out of his vehicle to question me, even after I laid on my horn and opened my truck door.
So, I followed his lead and went down the free lane. Next light, he parked in the middle of traffic and prevented cars from crossing during the light and the traffic in the right lane continued through the light. At Lincoln and I-25 he did the same thing. The sheep in the right lane all turned onto to the highway going south on the highway, in single file. I drove around his car to the right and continued East on Lincoln. Not one of the 4 vehicles with lights followed me.

Seemed a bit odd to me. All of their plates ended in URC, though I only got two whole numbers. That is why I am asking.

Call the cops to either way

Call the cops to either 1.) report the suspicious activity, or 2.) file a complaint against them

That is why I am trying to figure out the license plate numbers.

They were either criminals trying to jack with the public or officers maneuvering their undercover vehicles in an unsafe manner (per your description).

Could it have been a construction company trying to move traffic or blockers for oversized loads...which are authorized to do so?

And undercover/vice type cars aren't going to deal with stuff like this

Aren't construction companies, etc. supposed to have orange lights in cases like this?

Please correct me if I read something into this that wasn't said or implied, but it sounds like these cars had red/blue lights running - which are reserved for official emergency vehicles only; right?

A lot of them are getting private security or off duty cops to use the construction companies red/blue lighted cars...which they can get permission to use. Basically construction companies started figuring out that people will actually slow down for red/blue lights and reduce the risk of killing them while working.

Secret service will usually have a uniformed escort as well. Don't know about here, but they usually send cars or motorcycles ahead to block intersections so the motorcade can continue driving and not stop

probably metro task force. But usually when they exit a vehicle they do have police markings on their clothing. (usually)

were all the windows blacked out on the vehicles?

Do they carry weapons? Because the one inept guy I saw out of his vehicle had nothing.

Also they would have probably gotten out of the vehicle after cutting me off or after I went around their vehicle trying to herd people onto I-25.

To an earlier poster, no, there where no dignitaries in the line, just average folks.

funeral procession could be... I merged into one years ago and got my axx chewed by some officers assisting in the procession... they weren't happy. :) sorry! didn't notice it ... ha ha.

Metro task force that I've seen hiding in my hood, usually don't have much on them for weapons, probably concealed most of the time. hard to say...

I am pretty sure it DOT. I see'em in the middle on the night going to work. Where ever there is construction, dealing with traffic and lane changes or closers.

When they were putting in new bridge on I70 and Ward rd.(FOR Cables that never happenend) They looked like cop cars, red & blue lights flashing, with no writings on the door.

another reason cop cars should be black and white, lights on the roof and open for everyone to see so they can be recognized. I hate the undercover stuff or now the chargers and magnums out there that are grey just waiting to give you a ticket...

Sorry only time CDOT runs red / blue is when plow operations are going.
They do get State Patrol back up for lane closures.
All CDOT vehicles have CDOT stickers on side of trucks. Insurance mandated.

I drive for them in the Mountains
