okay... so i will possibly have a $1000.00 to spend in a few days, and i've always wanted a kimber/springfield 1911, and i've always wanted an AR-15, but i cant decide what to get. one reason i'm getting another gun with the money, is because i know i'll be able to sell it, if i need the cash.the only thing is, i havnt seen the AR's going too fast lately.

so my question is....... AR-15 (probably dpms bull sweet 16), Kimber custom II, or Springfield Mil spec.

That would depend on what you have in the closet. Any purpose for the weapon or just a plinker? Pistols seem to be selling faster than rifles.

Buy used, buy smart. If AR's aren't selling, maybe now is the time to try to get a deal.

i would be using it for plinking, and prairie dog/cyotie hunting in wyoming, if i got an AR. the only thing with a kimber is they are so damn expensive to shoot, but they are just so damn beautiful lol. if i do get an AR i'm gonna get a glock or XD a week or two later. what are your guys' thoughts on being able to sell an AR if i decide i want a kimber?

Seems to me you are sold on the Kimber.... get one.

Get an AR. They are more prone to stupid laws as the 1911 wont be as easily affected if the .gov decides to be fools. [M2]

As another already stated it depends on what you already have. If this is a start to a collection rifle beats pistol hands down every time. You also said you're going to pick up an XD or glock later down the road anyway. get the AR! No brainer! LOL

If you want a 1911, look into the Sprinfield Loaded series, has a lot of great upgrades for a great price. Then you'll have money left over for ammo too. [Beer]

Good luck, be sure to post pics of your decision!

well... i'm kind of RE starting my collection. i had a XD9, Glock 21, Glock 36, AK-47, Mossburg 500, 10/22, and a mosin nagant... but then i sold ALL of them because... well i dont really know why (it was a really stupid descision). i picked up a S&W .38 the other day to start my collection up again, and this time i'm hangin on to them unless its to buy more guns. my fiance wants my .38 for her birthday, so i think im gonna buy some nice grips for it, and give it to her. thats why i'm thinking about another hand gun (for me), but i enjoy shooting rifles alot more than handguns, so i guess an AR would be a better choice for now, . maybe i can pick up a cheaper springfield 1911 for my birthday in a month.

Ohhhh, you should have bought my DPMS 18" (like a sweet xx" that I gave away)! But if you like shooting rifles get an AR, the market is super saturated right now and you can find some screaming deals. If you need a 1911 though I have a SA that I'll make a deal on :-)

Well I got the money sooner than I though, and went to jensen... I walked home with a daniel defense XV M4 for $1061.61 after tax AND 3 boxes of ammo. I can't wait to shoot it. What do you guys think about DD?

Awesome! DD's good stuff. Let us know how it shoots for you. And make sure you have it lubed up right before you shoot it!

^^ +1 this!! Fully strip that thing down and give it a really good cleaning first, then lube it up (not too much though, excessive lube can cause it's own brand of problems).

She wants a gun? MARRY HER TODAY! We don't have nearly enough lady folk, especially significant others, who are into firearms. When you find a lady who is, she is definitely a keeper! My wife is, but she's adopted this attitude lately of "You have enough guns....but I could use a 9mm". Bah, humbug!

Kind of hard to overlube an AR when you're breaking it in, at least in the action area. You just have to clean it out and relube it after each range session.
