The first part is pretty good....so at least start it...it is 47minutes long.
6:00 minutes in so far. People far too often say Liberal when they mean Progressive.
Thinking that the US should not have invaded Iraq in 2003 is not the same as supporting Saddam Hussein.
I don't know of anyone, not even my craziest Berkley wingnut UNIX friends that didn't support attackin Al Queda in the aftermath of 9/11... yet that seems to be the central point of his first analgy, about not a guy not stopping his hated wife from being attacked. Even Al Gore would have pointed at a map of Afghanistan and said "blow this up."

Just curious Hoosier, where do you lie on the political spectrum?
Don't be afraid to break it down into subgroups either.
example: Fiscal conservative but ethical liberal... etc.
Mostly libertarian. I am a firm believer in un-enumerated rights. Along the lines of, "If there is no victim there is no crime." I support graduated tax bracket... the system we have currently -- but this is a slippery sloap. I think the middle class is fast evaporating and the two party system is a horrible joke.

I've been plastering that link all over the place for the last couple of years. Evan Sayet's insights are brilliant.
He does an equally long and equally excellent followup lecture here http://www.heritage.org/press/events/ev030309a.cfm

I try to make sure I say socialist when they're calling themselves "Progressives". Progressive, to my mind, insinuates that something is moving forward in a positive direction. Progressive when they're speaking of their positions and/or politics is merely their opinion, not really an accurate label.

I prefer to call them something other than Liberal, because I like Liberties. The dems seems to only like some liberties. Libertarian is better sounding anyway, I guess.

I don't like liberal as used in the political context because liberal to my mind means 'a lot of' or a 'large quantity' of something. Like the liberal application of whoop a** to the Taliban or Al Qaeda. Socialist is a much more accurate description of them, to my way of thinking.
Liberties are good! The liberal application of liberties is better! The application of socialists to our liberties, isn't.........
