Well, it was this cheapo clay one that I ordered from http://www.pipesandcigars.com/.
It actually came from Holland, and was about 12 inches long. The bowl was like 2-3 times the size of a regular bowl and the stem was very skinny. Gloria dropped it and broke it one day while cleaning. It was still like 6 inches long, and I just sanded down the break and made a new mouth piece, but it wasn't the same so I trashed it. The bowl and half the stem were unfinished, while the mouth piece half of the stem was just covered in a brown gloss. I kept telling myself I'd sand it down and take it to one of those places where you paint your own pottery and then they fire it for you, but it never happened.
Oh yeah, and even being shipped from Holland, the whole thing only cost my like $12. It smoked terrible except for one thing. The stem was so long and thin, that by the time the smoke got to your mouth, it was pretty cool. I don't think I ever burned my mouth with that pipe like I did other pipes. Otherwise, it was closer to an elementary school project than a smoking pipe, but for $12 I wasn't complaining. It was also hard to light because the bowl was nearly 2" deep and I couldn't see if I was lighting anything unless I used a mirror.
I did order an $80 Brebia "Golden Natural" from the same website and still have it. It is still my favorite pipe. I'd like to get more pipes, but that was back when I had a great job and didn't have a family.

I haven't really smoked any of my meerschaums or briars since I got my Kirstens. I picked up a couple after a guy I knew in Iraq showed me the one he had. They've spoiled me for regular pipes. They're not exactly traditional; the guy who designed them was an Aeronautical Engineering Professor at the University of Washington back in between the World Wars and apparently liked to design things, like the Cycloidal propellers that are commonly used on tugboats. Apparently his doc made him quit smoking cigarettes, so he designed himself a pipe that would smoke as cool as he wanted. They have an aluminum stem; they're pretty interesting.
