why do people have to take others stuff... I just still can't understand this.
neighbor knocked on the door early this morning... check your cars, we're missing a bunch of electronic items from several of their cars. Cb's, radar detectors and crap.
Yep, sure enough, the one time I didn't lock the car doors, the ipod is gone. Apparently they are only taking items that are plugged into power or input jacks etc. Thankfully they didn't bust any windows or stuff...
what a pain in the axx.

[Rant1]Dont get me started. I wouldnt want to try to list it all. Ive had so much stuff stolen I could have bought a new car for what its cost me to replace it all. I empathize with you. I guess there are a lot of other people who think they need my s**t more than I need it.

yeah, I'm the type of guy that would rather have you come ask for help if you needed something... i'm reluctant to give money or whatever, but if you can prove your case, I'll probably give you some food or whatever... don't take my stuff I've worked hard for.
I'm very tired of locking everything, protecting everything, I have hundreds of keys to sort out each time you want to use a door, start a car, get a tool from the garage etc... very frustrating.

Sorry to hear that... there's not many lower forms of scum than thieves.

My wife left one door on the minivan unlocked a couple weeks ago, and we had some punks go through the neighborhood.....they got a bunch of DVD and a Blu-Ray case out of her van. The thing that made me laugh was that the discs were in the player! HAHAHAHA!!! They got a bunch of empty cases, with the sole exception of the blu-ray case.....the DVD copy was in the player and the blu-ray was in the case. So, not as bad as it could have been. But I'd love to have seen the looks on their faces when they opened up the cases![ROFL1]

My daughters boyfriend/roommate had his stereo amp and Kicker bass box stolen out of his vehicle the second night they were in their new apartment.
The bad thing is that I had warned both of them that they needed to conceal those items - without LOOKING like they were concealing items!
At least the thief in their case not only didn't break any windows or anything to get in, he also carefully removed the items from tehvehicle instead of ripping them out. he even took the time to carefully lay the loose wires neatly across the back on the rear seat.
Some peoples kids.
Currently, I'm dealing with vandals that keep returning to my neighborhood - same guys each time - I've seen them twice but can't catch them.
I've got a couple of stories about thieves coming into my (open) garage. One didn't end in my favor, the other is funny as hell! I'll have to tell you all about it some time.
Man, I'm about to move into a one bedroom apt so the wife and I can save some money (FINALLY kicked out teh mom-in-law)... and it's cheap so it's not the greatest part of town... grrr.... I don't like having to worry if my stuff is safe. I don't have a lot but what I do have took a long time to get.
The frequency of car break in's (especially if you drive a Honda, or pretty much any sport compact) is the reason that I don't keep a gun in my vehicle.

Yep, I'm not even comfortable making a stop on the way to the gun range for fear of those bastards.
If breakins are in relation to your car then I have nothing to worry about!!!
'97 civic with no electronics, speedometer, suspension, front bumper. HAHAHA.

This pretty much sums it up!!
Bigbear, you have everything to worry about, as your car is one of the most stolen vehicles. I have a buddy with a stock 2000 Civic Si (probably the only completely stock one left in the state!) that has been stolen going on 7 times now! SEVEN! The first time it got stolen, he found out that it had lo-jack on it. Ever since, he's always gotten it back in mostly one piece.

+1 we always leave an armed man in the truck if we have to stop anywhere.... to many low lives anymore.
Sorry to hear.
When we lived in the slums of Federal Heights my car was stolen TWICE, and the rims stolen once.
The officers were like "hey it's you again".[ROFL1]
One time they actually caught the guy driving it. The second time they found it abandoned. And the third I walked out to find it on the rotors. There were units not but 10 ft. from where I parked it and of course no one noticed anything. But then again about 98% of the people that lived there were shady characters. What a shithole that place was.
One time, the police located my friend's Civic IN SOMEONE ELSE's GARAGE, with a 10mm wrench on the windshield, the 10mm plate bolts, and the plates. They asked the guy who's car it was, he said he didn't know whose it was or how it got there. They told my buddy there was nothing they could do. Absolutely pathetic. I was outraged at the time.

Glad I don't live in town and rarely go to town.
Guns are usually left in the truck.. trucks are unlocked... keys in the ignition...
I'm probably going to see or hear you come up the drive though.... or perhaps the dogs will at least let me know when someones there. Then there are the folks that say, "Well all someone has to do is shoot the dogs." True, but it kind of gives away you are there and after I hear a gunshot, I will be armed too!
Also, us country folk also look out for our neighbors. We know who is supposed to be aorund and who isn't.
What's a Honda Civic?? Is it one of those new fangled tiny four-een cars?
I thought the most stolen vehicle in the US was the F150?
It was in the 80's and 90's, along with Mustangs. It is probably still near the top of the list; especially in the south where people steal SUVs and trucks then immediately drive them across the border.

Yep, I love hondas, especially for an airport car but don't like to leave them sit anywhere. my vehicles stay in the locked garage...any noises and the dogs bark and I go down ready to shoot.

Oh man, don't even kid yourself. Many, many cars are towed with a flat bed now a days.

ok ok, stealing it without dragging it away. Sure, I can chain up the K30 to it and drag it down the street... but I'm talking about hotwire or starting it to drive it away...

Lol, if someone stole my car, seriously, I hope they would be kind enough to leave a note so I can THANK THEM!!! LOL, seriously, my car is bad! HAHAHAHAHA.

Some pricks stole my man grill. It was big and stainless steel and I wanted one for years. Sear burner and everything. If they want something, they need to get a phuckin job and buy one. I have 2 jobs to buy what I want. 2 years later and I still don't have a grill.
I hate thieves.
I voiced my hatred for people took things they hadn't earned without permission from people that had earned them to a group at work one time. A liberal - progressive explained to me that the thief "earned" it because they took a large risk of losing their freedom by going to jail and they obviously deserved it because they weren’t as lucky in life as I. I walked away before I said something that would have got me fired.

It really urk's me that folks can get away with spitting out drivvle like that but we are effectively gagged from giving an equally offensive - yet appropriate - response for fear of HR actions, etc.

yep! or if it is a manual, bust a window, throw it in neutral, and tow it.

that guy needs to get the shit kicked out of him and have him made aware he "earned" it for being a dumbass.

Just realized a moment ago that my handheld garmin GPS unit is missing too - it was in the cup holder cuz I used it for work a few days ago to get some elevation numbers. phuck.

I have one I could let go for resonably cheap.. It's an older model.. Still works though..
Or just get an iphone, it has surveying aps and the standard Google app will give you lat/long and elevation within 3 feet.

thanks marlin. I'll consider it. mine was just the basic version Etrex model. I used it for hunting/camping and geocaching etc...
I'm checking craigslist... and just hit all the local pawn shops. Nothing yet. Probably sold on a street corner somewhere...
BigBear - iphone isn't something I want to carry with me in the woods. :) Does the iphone gps work outside the metro area? 10,000 feet in know where land? I haven't used one...
Only if you are in a service area though.
It does work in a service area... As far as where you are, I don't know. I've been hiking and camping (nothing backwoodish though) and though lost phone service, still could get the info on long/lat/elevation and sometimes text.
Not forcing anything, just trying to give you more options, lol.
probably your friends eh?
I don't think even you know what point you're trying to make there :D
I feel so left out. I know hardly any liberals who want to ban guns, who love Saddam Hussein or who think thieves are great, but they're the only liberals you all seem to meet.

most people have trouble in canyons will reception let alone in the back woods. not sure if the app has anything to do with the service...guessing it does it it ties into google maps or anything...at that point it would be worthless to you

hell that might be it....he has it, never used it, cheap enough to move quick and not ask questions.
do you know your serial number? do you have a CCW? go there, tell him you would like to buy it as long as you can check the function, look at the serial number...it is it yours tell him "thanks for stealing this and I appreciate you giving it back without me having to call the cops".

would be nice, but this one listed on craigslist is the the "legend" model i think, my is the standard etrex (basic model)
I don't have the serial number handy, but if I turn it on and it's got my house as a waypoint... then we're talking thief.
no biggie - thought about buying this legend version, good price, but I'm unfortunately between jobs for a few days... it's been a bad week.
Trying not to spend any money for a bit cuz of the income mess I'm in...
