View Full Version : 2010 Census Form
I just completed and mailed it back. They didn't have a provision for a cloven-hoofed, spiral-horned quadruped human so I told the truth. [Muaha]
No questions about guns. No questions about income.
Now we wait to see how the redistricting goes.
I put other in the race form and penciled in "AMERICAN"
they create their own racist bullshit when they ask what the background is. it should either be american or illegal immigrant or maybe immigrant on a green card or visa. other than that it just helps create the mindset for racism.

I just filled mine out too. I'm glad I live alone as it took less than a minute to fill out. I should have put "American" under race too. Kinda wonder how many people that fill out the "Hispanic" are illegal immigrants.

I agree, why does the race of the citizen matter? Illegals are criminals to start with so they'll just lie or not fill it out.
Maybe it should say:
Citizen
Non-Citizen
And then
Net Tax Payer
Net Tax Receiver
Illegal / Parasite
You can't get any information about which races are in which class without that question. So, I guess if they got rid of that question, there might be less race specific aid programs, but probably not. I'm torn on if I'm bothered by that question or not.

A friend of mine puts "Irish-American" on hers.
Hmmm,, I guess due to the complete mutt like family tree I have,, I could put down German-Irish-English-Polish-Scottish-American..
Think that would go down? [Tooth]

Like pickenup, all I've received so far is the letter telling me it's coming.

I didn't answer a couple of the questions. Like the DOB...I just put the year. Why do they need that? I didn't give them my phone number either. I grudgingly answered the "race" question.
I've had just about enough of intrusive gov't wanting to know everything I do and attempting to influence or control everything I do.

Your birth year should be more than satisfactory for their demographics (which really has NOTHING to do with the stated intended purposed of the cencus). And what practical use/need do they have for your phone number?
Really, they only need to identify 3 things:
Number of individuals in the home
Number of individuals per age group (0-5/6-12/13-18/19-25/26-34/35-45...
Estimated annual income of the household
Anything beyond that is just being nosey and intrusive.

Agreed. I'm only gonna fill out how many people and my age. I feel offended about the race question, shouldn't I, the "others" are so easily offended by more stupid things![Coffee]
The only thing I'm going to answer is how many people live in this household. Thats the only thing they are authorized to ask.

but SHOULD there be race and ethnic related programs and aid and scholarships? I bet there would be a monstrous backlash if I had a scholarship call the REAL AMERICAN WHITE ONLY scholarships, or the United WHITE fund, or an all white college.
That's not necessarily what I'm talking about, but otherwise, I'm not a fan of equal opportunity programs.

I wanted to write Caucasian American but decided against it
I sent ours in today. I put how many people lived in the house, the sex, age, and birth year of each person. No names and no phone number.
sent mine in yesterday as well
I sent mine back already, I left race black. I should have put American also.

One of my wifes co workers said she had a hard time deciding what to put in for race since it states that hispanic is not a race.
I am going to only fill out the number of residents and their age.
but SHOULD there be race and ethnic related programs and aid and scholarships?
No there should not be. My personal stance: The brightest/smartest kid gets the scholarship, period. I know that opens a whole door of excuses and complaints, but that's how I feel about it. You should reward the bright for their hard work. Not "no child gets left behind".
Flame suit on.
To the topic: For the "race" question I put "human", since everyone seems to use species and race interchangably in the Star Trek... oops... >:-)
I wish the push for everyone to go to college would end.
I wish the push for everyone to go to college would end.
Agreed also. There are only so many degree jobs out there. We need the skilled labor and farmers and other working folks... I would even garner to say we need those workers MORE than we need the degree workers. I have two degrees, but I didn't really learn anything more (life applicable, not degree specific) that I hadn't figured out in highschool.
If I was an endlessly rich person, I would set up a program that gave out trade school scholarships. Do those even exist? Well, I guess you could join the military.
I guess I went to college in a way.. U.S. Army. Class of M113 [Abused]

So I sent my census form back Tuesday of last week, but yesterday received a little note card telling me that I'm legally obligated to send the form back in. Did anyone else get this little reminder?

I just mailed mine in too.
The only thing I filled in was "4" as per the US Constitution.
To Whom it May Concern,
Pursuant to Article I, Section 2, Clause 3 of the Constitution, the only information you are empowered to request is the total number of occupants at this address. My “name, sex, age, date of birth, race, ethnicity, telephone number, relationship and housing tenure” have absolutely nothing to do with apportioning direct taxes or determining the number of representatives in the House of Representatives. Therefore, neither Congress nor the Census Bureau have the constitutional authority to make that information request a component of the enumeration outlined in Article I, Section 2, Clause 3. In addition, I cannot be subject to a fine for basing my conduct on the Constitution because that document trumps laws passed by Congress.
Interstate Commerce Commission v. Brimson, 154 U.S. 447, 479 (May 26, 1894)
“Neither branch of the legislative department [House of Representatives or Senate], still less any merely administrative body [such as the Census Bureau], established by congress, possesses, or can be invested with, a general power of making inquiry into the private affairs of the citizen. Kilbourn v. Thompson, 103 U.S. 168, 190. We said in Boyd v. U.S., 116 U. S. 616, 630, 6 Sup. Ct. 524,―and it cannot be too often repeated,―that the principles that embody the essence of constitutional liberty and security forbid all invasions on the part of government and it’s employees of the sanctity of a man’s home and the privacies of his life. As said by Mr. Justice Field in Re Pacific Ry. Commission, 32 Fed. 241, 250, ‘of all the rights of the citizen, few are of greater importance or more essential to his peace and happiness than the right of personal security, and that involves, not merely protection of his person from assault, but exemption of his private affairs, books, and papers from inspection and scrutiny of others. Without the enjoyment of this right, all others would lose half their value.’”
Note: This United States Supreme Court case has never been overturned.

Yes - I haven't sent mine back yet... I am debating just putting the number of people in the household.
So anyone think the Census Police will come to our doors for adding remarks, and having fun with the "Legal Document"?
