View Full Version : How do you remove fore grips
I got a 2 piece YHM rail that I want to put on, but I can't get the stock ones off.
I tried pulling down on the delta ring, but it really seems like that sucker is on there.
Thanks
Three options,
1) find a Friend with a good grip.
2) Buy fancy tool.
3) make fancy tool.
4) Ask if anybody has fancy tool..
Okay I lied there were 4...[Tooth]
I can push the delta ring down. But it seems like the stock hand gurad is screwed in or something. What am I missing here?
Thanks

have to be creative with the fingers and the ring... small pry tool usually to get the grips to budge on my armalite.
I just took some 1/4 steel rod the other day and the torch, bent up my own removal tool... sure helps... I'm west of downtown if you want to use it or borrow it...
Ok, next problem. I got the origianl rails off, but the YHM's have a round top and the barrel has a "triangular" shaped retainer ring?? Am I missing something here, or is something wrong?
Thanks for the offer gnihcraes

I think even the originals will have the look of being round, but they still fit over the triangle of the ring and delta ring... i'm no expert... :)
Yeah they are definitely not going to fit.
This sucks I was so excited to put them on.
Maybe I am just missing something....
Triangular would be an A1 All A2's are round.. Just thinking out loud..
This is what I got

It "says" is an A2
Interesting,, any way of taking a pic of yours and posting it?
I cant get any pics that show the triangular shape of the retainer ring near the money end of the barrel.
N/P,, was just trying for the visual.. The dumb question, were the ones you took off Round or triangular?
If it's the case of the retainer being triangular,, You might need to replace it with a round one..
I understand the visual thing. Sorry
Yes the originals definitely have a different shape than the YHM's do.
Would replacing the retainer ring envolve removing the front site and the FH?
Thanks for the help pal!
Yep, removal of the FSB would be a must..
No problem..
