Hopefully this is OK posted here, if not delete away.

I contacted Lone Wolf about having a couple receivers engraved to meet NFA standards. He quoted me $20-$25 plus shipping. Best source I've found so I asked him if this would be a price I could quote and he agreed.

I have zero affiliation with these people and am simply passing on a good deal for those that may need it. [Beer]

Wish they were local. I need a threaded Glock 17 bbl too so maybe I can work out some sort of package deal.

what is there turn around time, how does an issue get resolved if the package gets lost after completion etc.
you can go to a reputable trophy engraver and get it done for that price, locally.
YMMV

I see you are in Northern Colorado. Have you used any locally specifically for SBR engraving that you can recommend?

When I lived in Atl, I had a high end jewelry shop attempt to do one for me. It looked like a kid did it with an electric engraver. They paid for it and I gained a beater receiver, but I want a "gun" guy doing it next time, you know...keeping it in the gun family. The other issues, I guess you'd have to talk to them about. Im not affiliated, just passing on info. I am going to give them a try.

I'm too much of a control freak/doomsayer to allow work like that to be done where I couldnt actually just drive to the site and drop off/pick up my stuff.

Not to mention if it's already been approved and is an NFA item it's actually illegal to have any work done on it w/o you being present.

Places like Lone Wolf and Tornado Tech are very well known in the NFA community and both are pretty well respected.

NFA as in ATF, BATFE or whatever the hell they want to call themselves these days. Once an item has been approved by the BATFE it's an NFA item and as such it can NOT be worked on or operated by anyone w/o you being present. So if you have got your Form 4 back on your SBR you legally can't ship it out of state to have engraved as this is technically a federal offense. That doesn't mean some still don't do it.. just that it's technically not legal.

Have you done SBR engravings on lowers before?

Lone Wolf and Tornado Tech primarily do barrel threading. I was commenting on having faith in sending parts to a company and having the work done correctly and being confident that you'll get what you want and get your stuff back, not about engraving. I also never mentioned the BATFE at all. I don't know how you got that out of NFA.

Let's take a step backwards a moment... Do you know what NFA means?

National Firearms Act?

I've never had anyone confuse "NFA Community" or "NFA weapon" as the BATFE.

I see why you thought that. It's no big deal. I just find that using the term "NFA" goes over better than saying "Class III" or something, as that is incorrect and misleading.

I was making the point that it's not legal to which you said they 'are very well known in the NFA community and both are pretty well respected' but none of this matters in the eyes of the law. I think you meant NFA community as in those like me who have NFA items when I was talking more about the actual NFA and it's regulations. Maybe you didn't mean your initial post to be in response to what I said but that's what it seemed like which is what brought about my subsequent posts.

I know, that's why I was trying to clear that up. I was commenting on Ginsue saying he doesn't like to send stuff out. I'll quote him next time. For the record, I have no comment on shipping things to be engraved. I assume what you say is correct, but I have no experience to make any other point either way.

Keep me posted when you find out. I have to make a trip down to the Denver area at the start of the week and if I could find someone down that way w/experience & is reasonably priced I would take my lower down to have done.
