I have my CCW and frequently carry but today I saw someone openly carrying for the first time. I was in the Safeway in Highlands Ranch and was just inside the door grabbing a basket when a guy walked in wearing sweat suit pants and jersey and a S&W of some kind in a leather holster and belt with a spare magazine prominently sticking out on the other side. I later saw him asking one of the store personnel about something and then checking out and leaving. I wasn't following him around but I couldn't see that anybody paid much attention to him. There was no excitement of any kind or apparent response by either the store personnel or other shoppers.

I walked into a gas station a while back, and there was a guy standing at the counter, with his sidearm on, bs'n with the clerk. I looked for a badge, didn't see one, figured it was just someone exorcising his right to bear arms. Went on about my business, so did he.

I figure most folks who are going to carry that way aren't worried about it, and have no reason to. I'll stick with concealed, though.

OC was a topic of discussion at work today (And *I* didn't bring it up).
A few of the folks indicated that they wouldn't be as put off with someone OC'ing as they would if they saw someone printing their CCW.
I've seen a guy, maybe he is on here, maybe he is not. Anyway, works at the gun store in Parker I think.... is where I had seen him. THen one day in Harbor Freight I saw and recognized him OC.
When I was in Laramie visiting my brother I saw a younger kid OC in the Arby's.
I think i've seen another person or two also but don't recall them specifically. I've seen in more in the last year than I think I ever have.
Pretty cool. I still prefer CC. I can spend my attentiveness on the important stuff rather than everyone that is mean muggin me.

I would like to see more open carry. It would get the public used to seeing guns. I'm guessing the guy in the shorts was a off duty officer??
I used to see a guy all over my neighborhood (at stores and just on the street) OCing and not once did I ever hear a complaint from anyone or anything like that. I think most just assume the person is an off duty cop or something along those lines.
I have only open carried a couple times...I almost always just CC so as not to draw attention
I've never seen anyone open carry before.
Who the hell open carries while wearing sweat pants though? Plaxico Burris?

this is intense, or i just smoked too much...
I've considered OC but always go CC. Maybe one of these days I'll OC and see what happens. I just have a problem with uneducated people on the subject of firearms and think if I OC I will just hear people whispering "look he's got a gun, should I call the cops" or some othe crap like that.
This thread almost makes me miss AZ. I have open carried an AR in a town. I had to walk to the range as the car was getting work done, not even a second look. open carry was just common down there it seems, most times without a second look. In fact I think the biggest reaction to OC was from me, as I was asking about a Glock before I owned one and I noticed a guy in my store with one.
More than likely, the other shoppers were in a complete haze, oblivious to the world around them...kinda like when they are driving.
When I was a shift manager at BK, had a guy come in every once in a while open carrying...we would chat about our preffered brand and caliber :)

Plaxico Burris?! Classic!!! Almost died laughing. And yes, teach that guy some fasion sense, leather belt with sweat pants and leather holster, it may be perfectly fine to open carry, but not when you look like a dork![Tooth]
I saw that guy to about 2 weeks ago. I mean i think its the same guy not many people carry openly in highlands ranch.
I OC all last weekend and last night at the wingstop. I didn't pay any attn. too anyone else and no one seemed to care. It is just more comfortable to open carry. Just have to get use to lookin at the stickers on the windows to see if they have any no firearms rules. Give it a try!!!!!!

I hope it was not one of your SKS's 4gunfun!!!
I was at Sportsmen's Warehouse yesterday looking for a belt and my Glock was hanging out on my side while I was trying them out and a nice fella started to ask me about my paddle holster(FOBUS) and if I liked it etc, then we got into a conversation about gun safety, kids and the like. Nice guy, told him about the site so maybe he will join.
I usually try to stay low profile but I may venture out one day since spring is coming up with some velour sweat pants and a wife beater with questionable stains and let the XD get some sun. Leather sandals or Adidas? Decisions, decisions..........

Say what you will about the wisdom of OC vs CC - I know only that our members here are impeccably dressed.
I've been carryin the Walther p99 in 40S&W I got from nzchair here on the boards. I'm more accurate with the full size but this is a nice size to carry. [Shotg]

I am getting ready to go to Target.. I will OC for about the 5th time..
The first time I see someone open carrying, I plan to scream, jump onto the nearest chair, and hold my dress up.

LOL, yeah major Faux Paux!!!
Maybe we should have a fashion thread on here. People need to be educated on how to to carry and look cool, or at least not look like a dork. NO FLIP FLOPS WITH SOCKS!!! Rule #1.

Could be worse than a dress. Something like this? (I got into a facebook taging fake pictures war with a friend. He photoshopped my face on some hot bods.)

I OC'd in NM and in CO. Not every time I left the house but if I was going to the range or something I'd put my belt holster on and a full size revolver.
Nobody ever said anything nor did I get stared at like a freak. Well, no more than usual [Tooth]
And that is pretty funny in my current location. All the Army guys around OC and I'm glad they do!
