I just got everything ordered.

I'll assemble and take some pictures when it arrives.

This is a lightweight patrol carbine. I sold my last LMT build to a co-worker and wanted to put something else together for fun. Funding was an issue which is why I sold my LMT, or I would have kept it.

Welp, here are the specs:

Daniel Defense (DD) A4 Upper
DD FABCG
Magpul MOE grip
Magpul MOE stock
Carbine gas tube
VLTOR .625" low profile gas block
DD 14.5 inch lightweight barrel (pencil profile)
Surefire FH556-212A pinned
Troy/Viking Tactics 11" TRX Extreme lightweight rail
Magpul ASAP sling adapter
BCM Gunfighter Mod 3
DD Lower
DD LPK
Surefire X300
Magpul MBUS F/R
EOTech E-XPS 3-0
EOTech G23.FTS
Magpul AFG
SKD PIG Drop Slider MK-1 single point
Lots of PMAGs

Should be pretty sweet. I was going to go with a black and tan setup but my department likes black.

I'll take pics when it is all put together. It may be a while since half the stuff I ordered is backordered! [Stooge]

The lower is waiting for me at Neve's. Id go pick it up tomorrow but I'm stuck running quals all day.

The barrel is backordered. Eotech doesn't go into production until May. Ill be assembling it and putting into service irons only once my barrel shows up. :D

Sup on this meng??

It's together.

Since the pic, I've added a 7mm riser to fit it above the MBUS and moved it back for proper eye relief. All I need now is a SKD P.I.G sling.

how is the reach to the light with the front sight up? It looks like you'd have to have some impressive thumbs to make the reach.

Neco-response, but that's actually one of the prevailing approaches to using the smaller lights, placing it in front of the front sight. Using that approach you have access to the toggle switch when you have a forward grip ala MagPul Dynamics. You'll see a lot of folks pushing their grip way out front to have better control of the rifle. Takes a lot of effort to change over to this way of holding and driving the rifle. So using the AFG really assist with this grip type and the design of the grip lends itself to having access to the light toggle switch with your fingers or thumb.

I actually use the light up top setup, but the MBUIS looks like it would take up a lot of room. A sight like the DD fixed front that's really narrow allows the activation levers to straddle the sight. It doesn't look like that's possible with the MBUIS. Probably won't be an issue when the front sight is down, but when it's up it looks like the sight would interfere with activating the light.

Not sure I'm following your thought there YammyMonkey. If you look at the pictures, the front base of the MBUIS offers plenty of room to reach the toggles and not face any impedance from the raised sight.

I've tried this setup, doesn't work too well for me personally, but the logic in it is clear IMHO. Then again I'm also a Troy BUIS fanboy so I don't have the issue I think you're eluding to.
