How is it in comparison to the 92 FS (and other .40's) in quality, reliability, function, accuracy. price etc.

Are you talking about the new Polymer ones, or the older all-metal-frame version? I own a 96FS metal frame and love it. I've shot numerous kinds of ammo through it (I usually stay away from Wolf due to reputation, but many others including reloads have passed through the barrel) and not had one problem, ever. As accurate as I expect a pistol to be, and I'd trust my life to it any day.
I did put 50 rounds through a newer Polymer 96 recently and didn't like it as much. The balance felt off and the recoil was more harsh. Shot-wise it functional identically and worked fine, but given the choice I'd take a metal frame 96 over it. Given the build quality I'd have no problem buying an older one, assuming the owner maintained it like they were supposed to (but that's my rule for any used weapon anyway).

Good inf, thanks. I did the older, non-polymer one.
