Why is there no In N Out here in Denver????

I have heard due to the freshness of ingredients and inability to get to Colorado in a fresh time frame. I call bullshit due to the fact that we have modern transportation.

Anyone know why this is?

IMO over glorified Mc'Donalds. when I was in Cali, all my friend said you have to try a 4x4 monster burger. So I did... ok now what?

That's the line they've given my Aunt every time she wanted to know why they weren't in Seattle or Denver. Who knows. Half the other Californicate restaurant chains are here now. Probably just a matter of time....

Its good, but I agree with you, not as great as everyong thinks it is in CA or AZ etc. It is better then any of the burger joints in CO except Jim's Burger Haven [Beer]

I find that people only love restaurants that they don't have. I hear people on the coasts all the time talking about how they have to drive over an hour to the nearest Sonic. There is a Sonic every 5 minutes in every direction you drive here and they don't taste any different than any other place. They have good drinks, but I'd never drive an hour for them.

Maybe I'd drive a long time for Chipotle if there weren't any around.

I see a bunch of Jim's Burger Havens around, but don't think I've tried them in years. I'm not a big burger fan. Perhaps today is the day.

Jim's?? What the heck is Jim's?? I guess it's a Cali-Denver thing.

Country Shed in Calhan has pretty good burgers!

Springs has Conway's Red Top, but those aren't great, just big. Although they have been voted top 10 nationally for many years.

Bud's Bar in Sadallia is pretty good too.

Check them out. They are great. The Thornton one is a bit better since I think it was the original. Regardless they both are really good. [Beer]

My uncle manages one in San Diego. What you have heard is correct. They are very particular about freshness of their ingredients and nothing is frozen. For example they only keep buns for 2-3 days, if it isn't used by then it is trashed.

Closest right now is in UT, they are opening a few in Salt Lake City soon. Texas is next. To open in Texas they have to build a distribution center and a meat processing plant because it is too far from CA.

Old School Burgers in Parker and near Hampden and Sante Fe is close to In-N-Out.

I love In N Out.

it's the top of the burger food chain.

five guys and fatburger are a close second.

they haven't spread because they don't franchise. every store is family owned.

if they're spreading to tx then they'll be in CO soon.

fresh ingredients, best burgers, and prices that have never changed.

you can eat at in-n-out three times for what one trip to five guys would cost.

5 Guys, Smashburger, and Fat Burger are all good but they are expensive. About $35-$40 for my family of 4, 2 adults and 2 kids. At In-N-Out it is just over $20.

I never understood the obsession with In-N-Out while at Pendleton. Just weren't anything special.

Now, when talking fast food burgers...What-a-burger is the best! Wish there was one here!

Both Old School Burgers are closed now. Parker's has been gone for 2-3 years. They were good. My favorite burgers in Denver are at Tami's Burger Haven on 44th or 45th, across from Lakeside Amusement Park. My all-time fave is LottaBurger in Enid, OK, where I grew up.

In N out and fat burger were good in Vegas, but you couldnt beet the "Texas station buffet." Could we get one of them here? I am happy Del Taco is here now. Now we need El Poyo Loco.

I guess in-n-out burger is popular because of their freshcut fries and fresh cooked burgers.

For former Kommifornians, how about Tommy's burger? :D

Conway's Red Top is very good! Pffft to the guy who said they aren't great. They use Velveeta cheese, and very fresh buns, hand cut fries too. Everyone I've ever taken there has loved them and wished they had one back home. I also like Culver's Butter Burgers. Fuddrucker's are good and we try to eat there when we get to Denver. Just had Fuddrucker's earlier this month when we saw the Bon Jovi concert.

I thought the one near Santa Fe might be closed, did not know the other one was. I wonder if In-N-Out got to them. My uncle said they take it very seriously when some one copies them and most of the time they win.

I have to disagree on Fudruckers. I was not impressed by them here or in AZ. It looked a lot higher scale than it tasted.

Damn you all for not giving it up for Whataburger. Go try one next time you're in TX, NM, or AZ.

Jim's is still open? I used to go to the one on Sheridan constantly back in the mid 90's when I lived in Arvada. Loved that place. The only thing we have that is even comparable in Colo Spgs or Pueblo is Conway's Red Top.

First, I too was told that I just HAD to eat at In-&-Out Burger when I was out in CA years ago because they were so awesome. I tried one and thought "eh, it's okay, but no better than any other burger I've ever eaten". Given that it could have been an off day or a bad store, I tried another store and got the same result.

I guess I just don't get the _urge_! [ROFL1]

Conway's made a pretty good burger (yes, and pretty large) 15 years ago. Like GreenScout said, they changed something and the quality went WAY downhill. I recall something about lots of folks getting sick on the burgers many years ago too. I just quit eating there and won't go back.

Since Carl's Jr. has been mentioned: CO has plenty of Carl's Jr restaurants. Many (if not all) of those in Colo Spr used to be Hardees restaurants.. The Carl's Jr & Hardees chains are owned by the same folks. I like Hardees burgers better than Carl's Jr, and Hardees has GREAT breakfast bisquits!

From a former kalifornian, In-Out is awesome, however remember it is a fast food chain! The rest of these names i've seen thrown around do not seem to be in the same class. I can name a bunch of burger places that are better, but think something comparable to Good Times (local CO fast food chain). Good Times is similiar, fresh beef, etc, however i find it mediocre at best, however way better than McDonalds, Burger King, etc, but still a hamburger fast food joint (love their custard). Finally, I do agree, it is over-rated for non-californians, they expect to have an orgasm after eating there because of all the hype. When i go back to Kali, I typically visit one, but not go out of my way to visit one. I actually prefer Carls Jr (western bacon). In the last few years, Carls Jr's have sprout up all over the place, so have Jack In the Box (ultimate cheesburger, yum!).

So, remember the next time someone tells you to "Go to In-Out Burger the next time you are CA, it is the BOMB!" they really mean, "the next time you are in CA and find yourself in a situation where you need to eat McDonalds, try In-Out instead, you will be pleasantly suprised!"

Cheers,
Tim
