Got nabbed by CSPD westbound on Platte ave, just past the bridges before wahsatch.

After he asked me for my licence and registration I informed him I had a ccw and was armed. He asked to see the permit, then gave it right back before returning to the squadcar.

Clocked me at 49 in a 35, he wrote me up for 44 reducing it to a one point violation. Said they were patrolling that stretch because a kid had gotten hit there recently.

All in all it was a smooth transaction, the officer thanked me for being upfront about being armed.

CSPD/El Paso County on the whole likes responsible armed citizens.

at least he was cool about the whole thing. he did his job, you were speeding, got to pay a ticket for it and all things went pretty smooth.

glad he dropped it down for you, that was cool of him

Now ^^ that is how it's supposed to happen! (And he really was extra generous in the speed reduction, but isnt that fraud when written on an official document? (Not that I know ANYONE who would resist it!!!)

You know, I have some serious issues with 2 of the 3 officers I had my encouner with last week, but all in all, I still have faith in most LEO's.

I got bagged for speeding just a few minutes ago. Still super pissed off about it. 10-19 over and "Passing on the right when not permitted", $275 and 4 points on my license. Apparently if you contest the ticket, it's 8 points on your license -- how is that legit, to dissuade people from protesting it they reduce the points if you don't?

Should speeding be a crime? What about hitting someone else?

I really am in the mood to break some stuff.

That's not true. 10-19 is a 4 point ticket, they will likely reduce it for you, but if you contest it, you run the risk of having to take the full points. The officer just bumbled up trying to explain that to you.

I got hit for both illegal passing on the right (which was totally safe!) and 10-19, both 4pt. He said it'd be 4pt total if I paid within 20 days.

What type of road/street/highway were you on when you (allegedly) did this? THe passing on the right thing sounds like something that I thought they could only get you for on a highway.

i think "pay up or we'll get you twice as bad" has got to be illegal. what ever happened to innocent until proven guilty? now it is, maybe you are innocent, but if you cant prove it, it will cost you double.
the state is raising taxes on everything, speeding tickets are just another way to generate revenue. i have a street legal dirt bike, it now costs me $51 per year just to register it, it only costs me $110 a year for full coverage insurance! that whopping 325 pound bike sure uses up the roads, good thing i am paying my share for road maintenance.

No, speeding shouldn't be a crime. With a few exceptions, it is just about generating revenue.

Hoosier, were you on Purcell by any chance? Nothing more frusterating than being stuck behind some yahoo who refuses to go more than 35 on that stretch of road. Ugh....

I didn't see this until today, but yes, I was on Purcell. I live up here on the north side and I've only seen two cruisers in my time up here, so I was just unlucky.

Monday I met a trooper on US24 between Wilk pass and Hartsel, 76 in a 65. I have no excuses, just was going faster than the limit. First time I've been ever pulled over in CO, and have lived here almost 10 years. Verbal warning :)

He did mention that my CCW didn't show up in CCIC, I knew that El Paso doesn't enter them but showed it to him even before the license because that's the kind of thing I would want to know if his shoes.
