Combining all of our collective wisdom, drawing upon all the GMNA's, let's try to predict which SHTF scenario we could expect to see in the future.

I fully expect this thread to have the LHC some where in it though. Don't forget it!

Film at Eleven!

I'm going with Riots & Civil Unrest.
But hell, seems to already be happening...

So if we are rally doing the Crazy SHTF Predictions:
"Zombie bears invade Large Hadron Collider and create small black hole near Jupiter - film at 11."

Later news: Zombie bears abandon Earth in spaceships through Jupiterian black hole.. leave note saying: "Later, meatbags!"

Hard choice between unrest and depression. I think unrest is more likely though.

I could not choose just one on the poll. Everyone of those are very real threats that could happen anytime maybe even today right now this very second. Even a mistake on the Nuke radar could have us sending nukes over to russia thinking we are under attack and in reality we are not, it has almost happened twice now. And with the Human race LONG LONG LONG over due for a massive plague something is going to break i can promise you that, it is only a matter of time now. Sad thing is you probably wont even know about it until its too late. the media wont report it in fear of causing mass panic. so just be ready for anything.

I pick depression. Ever since that pharmacy got ripped off last week, there has been a real lack of SSRI's on the market.

All of the above.

An attack of some sort will lead to economic collapse and a depressed economy. That will lead to civil unrest. All of this will conspire to cause widespred disease and plague.

Can we get a Tom Joad option on the poll please?

Just for those who were curious like me. Tom Joad from Wiki:

The novel narrates the story of Tom Joad and his family as they travel from Oklahoma (http://www.co-ar15.com/wiki/Oklahoma) to California (http://www.co-ar15.com/wiki/California) in the midst of the Great Depression (http://www.co-ar15.com/wiki/Great_Depression). The book begins as Tom Joad returns from prison to his family's farm. His family is forced to leave the farm as a result of the economic turmoil. Tom breaks his parole (http://www.co-ar15.com/wiki/Parole) and chooses to help his family. All through the novel Tom defends a humanistic (http://www.co-ar15.com/wiki/Humanistic) point of view, breaking civil law or choosing to stand against broader economic mechanisms to follow more humane and universal principles of morality and justice. Tom Joad is a symbol of resistance of the economically weak people against the impersonal system which crushes them.

Tom Joad farewell speech to his mother:

"...I'll be all around in the dark. I'll be ever'-where - wherever you can look. Wherever there's a fight so hungry people can eat, I'll be there. Wherever there's a cop beatin' up a guy, I'll be there. I'll be in the way guys yell when they're mad - I'll be in the way kids laugh when they're hungry an' they know supper's ready. An' when the people are eatin' the stuff they raise, and livin' in the houses they build - I'll be there, too."

Dolphins: [singing] So long, and thanks for all the fish / So sad that it should come to this / We tried to warn you all, but, oh, dear / You may not share out intellect / Which might explain your disrespect / For all the natural wonders that grow around you / So long, so long, and thanks for all the fish! The world's about to be destroyed / There's no point getting all annoyed / Lie back and let the planet dissolve around you / Despite those nets of tuna fleets / We thought that most of you were sweet / Especially tiny tots and your pregnant women / So long, so long, so long, so long, so long! So long, so long, so long, so long, so long! So long, so long, and thanks for all the fish!/ If I had just one last wish / I would like a tasty fish!/ If we could just change one thing / We would all have learnt to sing!/ Come one and all / Man and mammal / Side by side / In life's great gene pool!/ So long, so long, so long, so long, so long / So long, so long, so long, so long / So long, so long and thanks for all the fish!

earthquake, civil unrest. We're due for one here on the front range I figure... but it won't happen until the Light Rail is finished, then all the cool new light rail bridges will fall down. so around 2012 when its complete.? :)

then we'll have to spend billions and billions to fix everything we just paid billions for... :)

There seems to be a logical possibility that there will be an order to the events mentioned.

Great Depression followed by Riots and Civil unrest, then our enemies will find us at our weakest, prompting Nuclear Strike, then comes the disease and famine.

after watching 2012 last night I would have to say that solar flares heating the core of the earth and the continents moving aren't exactly out of the question.

everyone says they want California to fall off into the ocean...it may happen then.
obviously al gore believes global warming is real. I don't myself but if it is true and it happens rapidly, guess we are SOL.

natural disasters are more along the top of my list before a nuclear war.

next would be a political disaster that ends in riots etc. etc.

my hope is for zombies.
