View Full Version : Looking forward to November 6, 2012
We haven’t seen any sincere leadership from the GOP in decades, even less from the leftists [now Socialist party of the USSA]. Looking forward who do you suggest / consider / recommend as POTUS front-runners for the next national election cycle?
At this early juncture who has a shot at generating the groundswell necessary, escalating the momentum relentlessly and most importantly, brings to bear what you would expect of a Republican Presidential candidate (integrity, breadth of Presidential skill-set, fiscally “deep” (ß CRITICAL in my view) and let’s face it, possessing the required persona and physical attributes)? Who ya' feelin'?
Rubio - Generating flash success currently
Jindahl - Had fire in months past
Romney or Palin – Retreads or not?
Ryan - On my short-list personally
Darkhorses?
Others and why?
Damn...I don't ask for much, all I want is someone I can believe in and that gets the real work of the people done. Don't talk to me about it, get it right and get it done. I'm not a follower but I will commit to followowing the "right" leader to Hell and back if you give me one.

My thoughts:
Rubio - Do we really know ANYTHING about Rubio? If anyone likes him... tell me why.
Jindahl - Good on gun rights - as far as I know... BUT: Voted YES on making the PATRIOT Act permanent. (Dec 2005) Health care: Universal access, but not government-run. (Feb 2009) Not a chance.
Romney - Gun rights supporter.... BUT: he said: Mandating citizens to buy health insurance is conservative. (Jan 2008) - NEVER! He will NEVER get my support.
Palin - Supports McCain - What else can you say - If she would support McCain and his PROGRESSIVE REPUBLICAN AGENDA... She is killing her chances... I don't think so.http://www.ontheissues.org/default.htm
Need to research Ryan...

Is there an "other" category?
Coburn or Salazar would get my vote in a heartbeat.

Tom tancredo!!!!!!!
Ted nugent!!!!!
Really though, I would like to see ron paul gain more support. The guy has (as far as I know) morals, a love for the country, supports the constitution in it's entirety, and has a bit more brain activity than a brain dead squirrel (which cannot be said for many politicians these days).
Ron Paul is possible, except for his ideas of completely withdrawing our troops from around the world. Isolationism is not the way to run a country now.

I disagree - in the short term. Perhaps if we withdrew from these areas for a short period of time and stopped letting OUR troops die for these other selfish and ungrateful nations, perhaps they'd learn to appreciate us a bit and quit bad-mouthing us.
I'm also interested if Ron Paul is running again. I voted for McCain last time and felt dirty and used before I even left the voting booth.

Me too...
But I held my nose and did it...
The republicans SCREWED themselves by nominating him...
But he was the 'only one with a chance'
NO FUCKING MORE!
I still feel dirty for it...
NEVER - EVER again.
What a fuck.
Bob Barr, possible... RP,, sorry, just no way...
Oh, and it really wasn't the repubilicans that nominated McCain,, It was the Acorn enlisted scum that registared republican for the primaries..

Boy do I know that feeling well. I think the folks running the polls should be equiped with latex or nitrile gloves so we wouldn't be under any misconception that we weren't going to be violated one way or the other.

This is what I hate about our system so much, it's like voting for the lesser of two evils. Even though the ballot was what 12 names long? It's hard to give your vote to a 3rd party candidate because you know they will only get a few points which may as well be a vote for the other side.

No 3rd party spoilers unless they are liberals. That's what gave us Bill Clinton.

There's a difference between doing what many people in other countries see as empire building and maintaining a presence around the world. No other nation has nearly two dozen naval air groups (between the CV's and LHA's). Any of these roll into a countries territorial waters and in the majority of cases it just became the largest air force in the region.
There are some things I don't agree with Ron Paul about, but the vast majority of views I do.
I think the problem Ron Paul has is that most of the GOP doesn't really want small government either.
Anyone else think we need single term limits on all government elected positions? Don't even give them the chance to campaign while in office. Don't even let them learn how to work and abuse the system.

I feel the same way.
I like a lot of Ron Pauls ideas but I don't see him as presidential material.
I am still searching for the true conservative messiah.
I would take palin over both of these guys

Ridge, albeit Senate related, thought you might find this interesting (I'm with Funkfool re: Rubio, the skeletons have yet to start rattlin').

SENATOR TOM COBURN, M.D., ENDORSES MARCO RUBIO FOR U.S. SENATE
Miami, FL
Quote:
"I proudly endorse Marco Rubio for the U.S. Senate and look forward to working with him in Washington," Dr. Coburn said. "His genuine principles and proven record are evidence that he will come to Washington and be a consistent advocate for fiscal responsibility, individual liberty and the traditional values that have made America great."
Quote:
"I have closely studied Florida’s Senate candidates and have no doubt that Marco Rubio is the only fiscal conservative in this race," added Dr. Coburn.
"Rubio would be a faithful guardian of taxpayer dollars in Washington and valued ally in the Senate. At a time when Washington is piling on crippling debt on our economy, the American people need Marco Rubio in Washington to stand up to this reckless behavior and offer clear conservative solutions.

I just can't take Palin seriously. If you think Obama has "handlers" (I do), Palin will have twice as many.
All Congressmen are guilty of speak like that.
Coburn has shown himself to be a guardian of the people, though.
Washington has more tools in it than a Snap On truck...
I voted for Barr in the last election, even though the Libertarians miss the mark by a bit.
Just one thought: Remember in November: All 435 members of the House and 33 Senators need to justify their continued existence in the government. Those that voted FOR the Health Care debacle, in defiance of their constituent's wishes, need to be made jobless.

exactly. every single one of them need to be voted out of office and sent to an unemployment line.
it is too bad we can't make them go on the health care plan they voted in, and let them live with the welfare mongers that have no desire to do anything but live like leeches.
They wont be unemployed. They'll be hired to a lobbying firm for several times what they made as congressmen.
I'll throw this into the mix,, J.C. Watts...
I'm voting Nov. 4th. Tell all your liberal friends to vote the 6th.

The first Tuesday after the first Monday in November.
SCHEDULING ELECTIONS
When are general elections held?
They are held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday of November. The 2010 general election will be held on November 2.
Why are general elections held on the Tuesday after the first Monday in November?
For much of U.S. history, America was a predominantly agrarian society. Lawmakers considered their convenience when choosing a November date for elections – after harvest time but before winter weather made travel difficult – as the easiest month for farmers and rural workers to go to the polls.
Because many rural residents lived a significant distance from the polls, Tuesday, rather than Monday, was selected to allow those who attended Sunday church services to begin travel after worship and still reach their destinations in time to cast their votes.
Lawmakers wanted to prevent Election Day from falling on the first of November for two reasons. First, November 1 is All Saints Day, a day on which Roman Catholics are obligated to attend Mass. Also, merchants typically balanced the accounts from the preceding month on the first of each month.
