My boys and me went out on Windsor lake today in the canoe. It was a little choppy, and since they are too young to paddle we were hanging around the lake near the docks. When, what did we see???
A DOW truck, with 5000 rainbow trout. We paddled right up to the loading ramp as the DOW gal let the fish loose. Out of the 2 tubes on the back of the truck they all came sliding, jumping, swiming out. My boys were in heaven. Unfortunatley, since becoming a 100% DV, I havent gotten my fishing license yet. I can get a lifetime fishing and small game for no cost. Well, no cost other than a lifetime of health problems. And 8 years service to the Corps.

So, there are fish in Windsor if any of you fish.

Yeah, not something you get to see very often. My daughter would have been looking for a net......[ROFL1]

Thanks for your service HBAR. 100%? They must have really put you through the ringer during your tem of service. I'm @ 50% and everything hurts.

Now, like those other fine folks said, get your license and go catch some fish with your boys. Those fish certainly won't be catching themselves and 5000 rainbows would certainly make for a fine mess of fish - almost enough for a couple of dinners.

That hardly sounds fair. Those were dumb fish - they hadn't even been to "school" yet!

I really crack myself up!

I did just look at the windsor lake website...I can't believe they want 15 bucks a day for a motorized boat and insurance on it to boot....

I remember seeing an air drop of fish into Crosho lake as a child. It was a memorable sight.

1) you should have stopped by
2) did thecrazy amount of bald eagles that have been hanging out there come in for lunch/

they are all over the lake in the early am sometimes round sunset. with the warmer weather soon they'll be gone
now indunated with redtails and swainsen's(spck) hawks.

I got to go up to that private lake above George Town for the day they were adding the fish. It was pretty cool and you were only allowed to fish the other side of the lake for the next few week or so.

I saw one of the Bald eagles swoop down and grab a fish out of the water the other day in Windsor Lake. It was a pretty cool sight.

Only saw that one other time and that was when my bro and I were musky fishing in Wisconsin when we saw the bald eagle swoop down and fly right over my bros lure and grab a perch out of the water. The whole thing happened about 50 feet off the side of our boat.

No, bald eagles today. I think its a rivalry thing. The Windsor bald eagles dont like me. But, the ones out where we live, love me. I feed them jack rabbits. I shoot the jacks, and they come in and eat them right near the house. We didnt see any pelicans go after the fish either, but the seagulls nailed a couple. There was a guy fishing off the dock who hooked "several".
For Jim, I thought you had a job? I didnt think you were a slacker like me. I would have figured you were at work during the day.
For Ryan, what is this fee you speak about? I dont want to know anymore about it.

Those bald eagles are really cool. I see them all the time just North of town around hwy 257. I was over looking at a house for sale on Horseshoe lake in Loveland the other day and there was one just sitting out on the ice hanging out. He was hard to make out at first, I thought he was a dog for a minute. I fortunately had my spotting scope in the car and sat on the back deck watching him walk around on the ice for about 30 minutes before he flew off. Anybody know why there has been such a big population boom? Were they intentionally released in this area or has it been a natural occurrence?

I don't have an answer for you glucas, but I need to bring the family on a day trip up to that area to check the baldies out. I don't know if I've ever seen one in the wild before.

Maybe this is just because it's so unusual for me, but I think that would be really cool to watch.
