Anybody eat there? I am trying to get a good phone number for them, they charged my debit card and I have never been there. I get a 720-981-9489 on google/topeka and nothing from yellowpages.com. I called my bank and they told me I had to contact them, write a letter explaining what happend and what I have done to resolve it and send it to the bank before they can dispute the charge! The bank said I would have to pay $15 to get my card canceled and a new one sent if I wanted to do that, I cant believe they would charge me for this? I have never had to deal with this before, is this normal? I realize its probably not Habaneros wrong doing, but I have to see if they can pull the reciept before I can do anything else. Thanks.

You should be able to dispute the charges without canceling the card.

The problem with just disputing the charges and not cancelling the card is that this sounds like a case of stolen identity/credit card fraud. If hte card isn't cancelled, there is no guarantee that the card won't be used again, and again for fraudulent charges.

I would cancel the card in case it happens again, and file it with your card company/bank.

I'd also get a new bank.

Yes, inquiring minds want to know.

This same kind of thing happened to me a couple years ago with Comcast and some air plane tickets.

Called the CC company and they canceled the card, took care of the charges sent me a new card and the whole nine for a HUGE fee of ZERO dollars. Banks have fraud departments that investigate this.

I would cancel the card and instead of paying $15 for a new one, go to a new bank.

Its academy bank, they are affiliated with military bank which is also affiliated somehow with bank of america. I had Bank of america in las vegas, then switched to military bank when I enlisted (at the bank of america office) and then switched to academy when I became a civi again (so I would have atm access here). I think I will find a new bank.

Ya I couldnt believe it when the banks fraud dept told me to contact them and try to work it out. I have been calling since yesterday and still no answer at Habaneros. The bank said they will investigate after I do all the leg work.

send the bank the bill for your time & effort. It is CC fraud. their not acting on it is a major fail in my book. change banks. While wells fargo may not be the best bank out there. they are very mil. friendly and don't have an ATM charge for mil when accessed any where in the world.
call the bank and ask to speak to a supervisor. if that does not work close your account.

I have a BofA Credit Card and had odd charges from eastern europe show up on my statement a while back. All I had to do was call them and they immediately reversed the charges, canceled the card and sent me a new card. All I had to do was re-do my automatic payments since it was a new card with a different account number.

I think the key problem here is you mentioned you have a debit card. Those are not credit cards (even though you can use them like one). Different rules and protections (or lack of) apply. IMHO, once you get all this sorted out, is to quit using your debit card and start using a credit card. You have much stricter liability protections when using a credit card.

Here's a quick read on the differences between a CC and DC. Notice the difference in your liability when fraud occurs: http://www.stretcher.com/stories/00/001218d.cfm

Bank called me back today, they said "the card was present at the time of the transaction" so I need to file a police report. Bull!!! I have not lost my card, in fact the bank cut it up for me in person after this incident, and no I didnt pay $15 for another one, I plan to get a new bank as soon as my loan is payed off through them. I still have not been able to find anymore info on this place?
