View Full Version : talked with an FBI agent tonight
gotta talk to an FBI agent tonight. she, yes she was very cool. She was part of rape and prostitution investigation. didn't get to chat long, but I was talking to her about how to get on with the FBI.
I would love to fly for them! I think you get to be armed, still get to go through all the awesome training plus fly some of the nicest planes out there (other than .mil stuff).
Might be something i will be looking into!
Start training to run 1.5 miles in under 10 minutes, at least 50 push-ups (in 60 sec) and 60 sit-ups (in 60 sec), and sprint 300 yards in well under 50 seconds now.

That would be cool. Go for it if you got the chance.

doesn't sound too bad. the worst thing would be the 300 yard sprint. the rest would be pretty easy

You can do it!

It is based on a point system, check out their website. I was only able to do 10 minutes for the 1.5 mile. I didn't think I'd do that well at all, but it turned out to be pretty competitive for my class when I applied for Jeffco.
Anyway, if you want to be really competitive (physically) you should plan on training to score max points. This is my perception based on what my buddy that was in for a few years told me anyway.

sounds good, thanks for the heads up, I will get to work on it and put my focus on those.
which website did you go to?
www.fbi.gov (http://www.fbi.gov)
okay cool, that is where i was starting to look and where she told me to go.

Your google flu's gettin the best of you Stu. My old roommate just got on as an analyst and there is no way in HELL he could do any of that. No prior .mil experience, LEO, or armed security, he was selling electronics and living off of fast food a year ago.
This is what you are looking for.

They might make you do pull ups as well, but not necessarily count them towards the test. A beta testing kind of thing.
When I applied for Jeffco, I would have scored 23 or 24 points. Jeffco didn't do the 300 yard sprint, but I practiced that as well. Now I'd be laughed at. Man, I've got to get back into shape. :(

You don't need to be able to do anything as an analyst, I was talking about for an agent. I don't know about being a pilot, but might as well train for the hardest one.

Start as an agent? [LOL]
Yeah, my buddy did. He didn't meet the work experience requirement either coming straight out of college. However, he did damn near ace the physical requirement test and is a very smart computer programmer, so he got in. You wouldn't be able to apply as an agent if people couldn't start there. If you look at the link for HRT, it says that people start as agents then go to HRT, but I don't think you'd start as one.
If you have skills that they want, then you can start as an agent.

Me too!
I used to want to be an FBI agent. Too much emphasis on the accounting these days.

Got to talk to the FBI pilots stationed in Denver. Very cool guys. I personally know a pilot for the DEA stationed here. Tons of good info
Sounds like FBI SA physical qualification.

FBI SA program has a huge Accounting/Finance opening.
Almost joined them (at LA 11k Wilshire near UCLA and main office of KB Homes) around 2003 after my fiance firm M&A'ed on us. :(
On top of that, I studied Phys/Chem extensively and speak 2 lang fluently for lingustics.
However, if I can, I would rather join Securities and Exchange Comission (SEC).
They have about 9 special skills? Linguistics, acct/finance to JDs. I think they want people who has min 2-3 years experience.
I personally think FBI expect too much stuff from their SA program for GS-11 pay.

That's what I was told when I was in LE. The FBI primarily wanted accountants.
Unlike TV shows, the fee-bees mostly push paper.
No thanks, I can do that working at any office.
Too much BS to just push paper.

wife recently applied to fbi through the http://www.usajobs.gov/ website. Interesting system... the applications were bar coded and had to be faxed. She was turned down. :( stinks.

But at least now you're able to be especially safe when you fly since they are watching you closely now.

Amen!
i made it to the second round interview, twice. Glad I didn't make it.
FYI - be prepared to relocate if you make it as an agent. I had been living in Denver for ~6 months and didn't know anyone - but because I had applied here in Denver I would have to be stationed somewhere else for my first tour had I made it.

I don't believe that he'll be an "agent", but a pilot instead.

wow very interesting. I wonder if i got a pilot job if it would be the same thing

i think that is what I would go for. would be nice if they trained me to agent qualifications but did mostly pilot stuff.
I will give it a shot with an app and see how things go. probably not going to happen but I like to keep my options open in case something turns up

If you make it as an agent you start academy in Quantico (12wks). It'll be at least 3yrs or so from there until you catch an assignment where you like as they'll likely put you where you're needed.

If I remember correctly, all of their pilots operate out of Quantico also. So, if you got picked up as a pilot, you would probably only have one choice: Virginia.
I can double check with an FBI agent I know if you want.
