View Full Version : single stacked mag questions
i just got my first ak47 it is a single stack.
does anyone know where i can get single stack mags that hold more than 10 rounds?
converting it to a double stack sounds like too much work haha
i never heard of a high cap single stack mag. no domestic manufacturer that i know and all the single stacks come in with the wasr and others before they get milled out for a double stack. what kind of single stack did you get? if its a wasr i would just keep it single stack. if yugo i might mess with it. one thing i always thought of doing was getting a flat receiver and using that as the template to bore one out.
its a zastava pap. its serbian. they just recently starting importing it is my understanding.

that would be a good model to do if not scared. i seen a guy i think on theakforum that had one milled out and also a spacer made for the rear of the receiver so you can install a regular yugo stock without a gap on it.
does it have any spacers or such to keep the single stack mag from wobbling? if it dont than you can have someone do it or go for the gold and do it your self. but always take not enough than too much. and use a couple of steel mags to check out clearance.
alright i'll go to some gun shows and see what can be down. thanks man
just dremel it out. Plenty of how to's online

What type of single stack? Some are easy and some are not.
My first choice would be to modify the receiver to accept high caps. If you are looking for single stack mags, find out if romanian single stacks work and order a few from CAI.
All of the WASR's come into country as single stack rifles before they open up the mag well to accept standard capacity mags. I assume they also come with single stack mags, so they probably have a surplus of them some where.

You'll run into 922(r) restrictions, requiring replacement of some of your foreign parts, if you want to use more than 10rd mags legally with any of the single-stack imported rifles. Can be done, but gets expensive in parts and time to stay legal.
Shoot me an email. I have a mill and have done a couple conversions
parts are an issue for 922. But there are always tons of spare us stuff lying around.
I'm in the springs.
