View Full Version : UP or Down - CO Police Protective Assn
Colorado Police Protective Association – Are you Familiar with (I'm not)?
I'm looking for an up/down stance from those of you that are in the know. Legit / worthy in your view? Are an acceptable percentage of contributions truly committed to, and spent on those serving on the front-lines of law enforcement as pitched?
Thanks in advance.
never heard of them sorry i couldn't help
Miniscule amount of donations go to the cops. Most fund their call centers.
BTW, if you even donate a nickel to them, expect calls from them every few months after that forever. I eventually told them I had moved away and now I had my number.

I was in my office at the Dept. I retired from when a private, non-published line rang. When I answered it without identifying myself it was a request for a donation. I was told that major funds had been donated to my Dept. (they new the city from the area code) After hearing the pitch I replied "that's strange, I'm in charge of the budget and I've never seen a dime from your organization" They hung up immediately.

That's funny. Sad, but funny.

Dad did the same thing once when they said they helped injured officers, and he hadn't seen a penny. They hung up pretty fast...

If you want to donate to a Police programs that supports officers, families and training:
http://cleoa.org/
This is the ONLY window sticker that a Colorado LEO will recognize as support to officers.
It is generally reserved for LEO only, but for $20 you can get an associates membership
EDIT: They will not solicit call you ... ever. Nor will they ever ask for money or support.... just a notice in the mail once a year to re-up.

I never donate over the phone unless I'm the one calling. I've had several calls in the past from this organization and I've told them that I'm surprised that a police organization would be doing this over the phone and they've never answered that concern. JMHO
