View Full Version : Got any good quality WASTE oil?
Hi
I am looking for sources where I can get used oil for free. Your waste is my gain.
What I mean by good quality: oil only, no water, no antifreeze, no other unknown liquids.
What I mean by Oil: Motor oil, gear oil, ATF.
How much do I need? HOw much do you have?!
I am looking to fill around (3) 55 gal drums and if I can about 5 drums. I figure in the last year I have used about 4 drums worth.
I use about 1 drum per 6 to 10 weeks.
How much is worth your time? I have around 10 gals.

I also have around 8-10 gallons. I am in Aurora so you could pick it up easily. I have been recycling it a little at a time at Checkers.

What do you use it for?
What do you use it for?
fuel in a diesel. Hence why I am concerned with quality and other liquids.
Contact heavy equipment dealers and truck maintenance company's in Denver. They'll be more than happy to give you their waste. If you have no luck, PM me and I'll give you some local contacts.

Now thats the kind of recycling I like to see. Being green[Flower]with diesel! I'm sure you know, but please be very certain your oil is clean. I've heard a few stories of destroyed injectors from people siphoning fry oil out of dump bins. Apparently the cleaner used to scrub deep friers is quite caustic on injector nozzles as well.
Happy burning

Sixgun... I do not yet have enough donations in the western area from the various boards I posted this on yet to make the trip cost effective. I will let you know if I find myself that way. I appreciate the offer.
Dale & Mista - I'll definitely take it off your hands if it is of the quality you can vouch for. I do filter it for particles but don't have a system for other fluids such as water and antifreeze.
Mx'r - thanks, I will try to contact them later this week when I get some time.
Beprepared - Thanks... I filter it through 2 filters 20micron and 5 micron. I only use the motor oil and ATF etc. As of right now I am not using a veggie/bio diesel set up because of many reasons, some of which are what you mention of the fry oil source needing to be quality.
So far I've run some where in excess of 160 gal through the truck this past year and haven't had any issues. I even run 100% oil in it for a few miles until I can get to a diesel filling station. I can feel a slight diff in performance/efficiency but always try to have a 50/50 mix at max outside of the 3miles to and from.

I used to be a mechanic so I don't like paying for service I can perform for myself. So I change my own oil. I use Castrol synthetic in my car, put the old oil back in the container I just emptied. My children think I should change theirs as well so the rest of the oil came from their cars. Also Castrol but not synthetic. I think there may be some ATF from my son's car. When my son mixed a little antifreeze with some it did not go into my used oil bottles.
Actually I would rather pay someone else to work on my cars but since I am currently unemployed I can't.

Thanks for picking up my used oil, It's a chore I dread and always find something more important to do so when I am finaly forced to do it it's an even bigger hassel.

Thank you Dale and Mista.... I already filled up almost an entire 55 gal drum between you two and a guy off of CL. I have also already filtered that 55 gals.
For those on this thread in Littleon/ etc, I didn't ever make it out that way Sun. Sorry I am still interested in your oil. Just not sure when I can get it in the next couple weeks.
I have race weekend this coming weekend so that is out.
