Okay, I am putting a dog run in my backyard and was going to put gravel down on the ground. What is the best type of gravel for dogs?

And where should I look for the best deal to get gravel?

Well,, I would say Take your shoes off and spend 24 hours in your bare feet on differant grades of gravel. When you can find one that you can stand and lay in for 24 hours... go with that one..

If you have your heart set on gravel, There is stuff that We call squegee, Basicly Just above sand in the size of rocks.. At least it doesn't have sharp edges..

use this or just let them run on the dirt, dirt is easier to pick up the crap on too.

Use it to level out underground vaults, pipe runs where required by code and, if you remember to your wrist rocket,, You can have a mini shotgun. [Tooth]

ETA: MB888,, Not sure if that's its actual name,, Just what we more less refer to it as... THe only way I can really describe it is bigger than sand/smaller than pea gravel..

wrong. dirt only will make their pads soft. when running/walking or jumped over fence and hightailing it afterwards the soft pads can get damaged.
we used some small round(1/2"-2') river style rock. this allowed for tougher pads, easier to clean the shit off of, and allowed drained from rain, piss and knocked over water bucket.

you could get some paving stones as well, home depot has them for $2 each right now.
my dogs have grass and the whole back yard.

I would love to let my dogs run on grass in my backyard, however I have no grass just dirt. I wanna make a nice backyard, that is why the dog run is necessary so that the dogs don't mess it up during the growing of grass. My dogs pretty much stay in the house a lot of the time so I don't want them to get too dirty. I had no idea that dirt also makes their pads soft too.

All privately owned pools, trampolines, and play ground equipment must be behind fences if the owner wants to keep their property coverage. Those in the list are known as attractive nuisances. Basically means that it is something fun so people will be much more likely to use said equipment, even if they are not invited or allowed to be there.

Of course, you could leave it un-fenced and just poke a pellet gun out of an upstairs window and pick off any rug-rats who choose to trespass.
