Anybody fish Chatfield? I have been trying my luck and have caught nothing over the past two weeks, So I am looking for tips to use at chatfield. I like to fish for cats and brim/panfish and bass. Any help and tips would be very cool, what baits to use, were in the park to set up what time of year is best for certain species. Also do any of you bow fish?

dynamite. lots of it.

Used to call that "Dupont Flashers" It was amazing how many folks asked who carried them.[Beer]
To the OP though I don't have any useful hints.

A little early in the year for bass, perch. The cats hit all year but not many of them in chatfield. I think the Walleye's are still spawning and the crappie should be moving in around the boat docks to spawn soon. Try a white curly tailed jig from the inlet (around the bridge) about 3" long. Bounce that across the bottom and you should have great luck. I think the rainbows have already spawned there, but you might catch a few running late.. that's my 2 cents..

I used to fish Chatfield a lot. One day I found a dead catfish on shore. Three feet long with a mouth big enough to swallow a football. That got me so excited I got all rigged up for catfish, smelly bait and all. My brother and I went out that night (spooky) and fished the inlet channel of the main lake, southwest side. Nothing and nothing all night. So, I'm pretty sure there are some monsters in there. You just got to find the right spot.

Pineapples are good for fishing. Better than dynamite, don't need to tie 'em to a rock.

My best buddy wanted me to go fishing with him yesterday @ 11 Mile. I had to respectfully decline due to the snow and freezing wind.

I need to plan for a day up there in a couple of weeks or so. My buddy really wants to take his boat up there as he didn't take it out at all last year.

11 mile is still frozen over. some ice off at the inlet side. Mucho water coming from spinny. Yesterday was an awsome day at Deckers... Weather needs to cooperate a little more. The spawn will be over soon.

Just got back from Deckers, 11 mile, river between 11mile and spinny. Not great, but not to shaby. Ice is comming off quickly on 11 mile .2 fish. fishable about 40' out, all the way around. Seem to have already spawned under the ice. Not a strike between 11mile and spinny. 6 fish from Deckers, one @ 4.5lbs, one @ 3lbs, the other 4 were Dinks...

I haven't fished Chatty much, but I have been skunked every time. People on boats seem to have it better, but I'd probably get skunked then, too.

Seems that way. Is there anyway I can get on the back side by the dam into deep water? or were is the best place to get to deep water from the shore?

Learn to cast like a sonofabitch. [ROFL1] Seriously, though, you can scramble around the rocks to the dam, but it's a pain. Short of that, there is no good way I've found to get deep.

For Eye's and the occational smallie think shallow water access to hunt with deep water "pockets" ;) near by. Fish the dropoffs in these areas. PM for more info.
