View Full Version : Sexy Beast
Sexy Beast is one of my favorite movies.
If you haven't seen it, I encourage you to check it out. It has nothing to do with sex. Here is a youtube clip of scene that doesn't ruin the movie. There is on swear word in this clip.

One of Ben Kingsley's best performances ever (and that's saying something).
The F word was totally SHOCKING.... I'm perturbed.
How dare you expose me to that kind of language! Didn't you hear we have the right to not be offended!

But on a serious note, I haven't seen this I might have to

But on a serious note, I haven't seen this I might have to
"No! You're just going to have to turn this opportunity YES!"
I will give a second recommendation for this movie. I have owned it for years and never get tired of watching it. [Beer]

I also endorse it. I think movie freed him from all the wimpy Gandhi characters he'd played. Another good one is You Kill Me. He plays an alcoholic hit man who has to go into recovery since he is screwing up his hits. It might not be fun if you don't like jokes about AA type groups. Everybody being non-judgmental and helping him to be a better murderer is hilarious.

So, the reason I ever came across Sexy Beast, was because I was listening to an interview on NPR and they mentioned it. They were interviewing the lady responsible for putting the sound track to movies, and she was talking about the song she used for the opening scene. The interviewer mentioned Ben Kingsley and how shocking it is to see him in that role when he is known for playing Ghandi. I had no idea what the movie was about and went and got it.
I looked the movie up on Wiki today, then looked up the page on Kingsley. He is in many movies that I've seen, but I don't specifically remember him: Species, AI: Artificial Intelligence, Lucky Number Sleven, etc, plus even more that I've heard of but have not seen.
I've got Schindler's List on my "List to See" right now and will have to watch Lucky Number Sleven again.
I'm going to pick up "You Kill Me" asap. Has anyone seen Ghandi? Should I check it out?
Someone in the Youtube comments said that the people who did Sexy Beast got together and did another movie recently but it didn't get as good of reviews.

Ghandi is an excellent film, I recommend it.
Ben Kingsley is one of my favorite character actors ... I haven't seen a lot of movies with him in it that I didn't like (well I didn't like War Inc, or The Love Guru but not because of Ben).

Add Suspect Zero to your must see list. Pay attention to it(turn off the phone) and watch it w/out interuption
That's how I try to watch all my movies. Added to list. Thanks for the recommendation.
Also thanks for not ruining it by telling me what it is about. I like to read books and see movies knowing as little about them as possible.
+1 on suspect zero, also The House of Sand and Fog if you haven't seen it
My Avitar is a "Sexy Beast"......
I didn't like sexy beast.
Not a dialog kind of guy?
it's not that, I just hate movies with these big scary bad guys that don't scare me. like no country for old men.
about the time when ghandi was pacing around saying "NO NO NO NO NO NO NO" I would have told him to shut up, then kneecapped him. cut to final under the pool w/ bunny scene, roll credits. the end.
Well I just finished watching House of Sand and Fog. Upsetting movie, everyone acted...shameful. Kind of reminded me of a more mainstream (watered down) Requiem For A Dream or Los Amores Perros. Great film, just a tough pill to swallow.
I also already watched You Kill Me. Pretty good movie, and answered my question of which film had Ben Kingsley and Luke Wilson together (saw a picture some where on line and was curious). Since Sexy Beast was the first Kingsley movie to grab my attention, it has been an adjustment to see him use a different accent than the English one in Sexy Beast.
Suspect Zero will be next to watch, and I'm also sitting on Gandhi and Schindler's List.
