In my case, I rented a condo to Littleton Housing Authority section 8- pretty much a free housing for the 'need.' Well few weeks after they moved in, the 2 tenants were actually 2 families of 9, and ICE was looking for some of them. I had to waste half a day standing there looking like a stupid idiot while the ICE guys went through everyone's ID including mine because I was the owner. They were looking for 1 person, ended up picking up 3 of them.

sorry you had to get your day wasted but at least ICE got 3 of them.

section 8 housing just pisses me off, as does welfare, medicaid and every other programs people use to live off the governments tit.

I agree that there are lazy F$#* who live off welfare, foodstamps, housing, medicaid, etc.... However there are legit folks out there that do work and just don't make enough and they pay there taxes etc.. and can receive certain government help. Don't get me wrong I am not saying that it's ok for illegal immegrants to just come here and get that stuff BECAUSE IT IS NOT! It is for AMERICANS. U.S. citizens. I have at one point needed Medicaid for my children (before denval420) But I also worked a full time job and paid my bills and taxes by MYSELF. I also have a good friend that has 2 kids is on housing takes care of the place and works 2 jobs. She is AMERICAN. So I feel it's ok if you are AMERICAN and you work.

I used to live in the "little mexico" part of Littleton and have never laughed so hard as the day I saw eight ICE vans lined up down powers with about a hundred or so of these folks either in handcuffs or crying because daddy was going back to Mexico.

I totally agree with you. i am all for helping people who are truly in need, what gets me is the people who don't work, have tons of kids to claim disabilities for them, and live their entire lives doing nothing productive or trying to get a job.

One thing that really gets me is New Orleans, they had Katrina, got all the help, trailers to live in, money to fix their homes even when they had no insurance, yet I fly over it 5-6 years later and they have blue tarps covering 30-40% of the roofs in a lot of areas, you drive by and you see a decked out never vehicle with 24in rims and spinners.

I was on a large condo development site three years ago when immigration showed up. It was comical. Dozens of guys were running off of that site like it was on fire.

It's easy to tell the lazy welfare losers, and the hard working down on their luck people. Ask the pizza delivery guy. Seriously! The hard working down on their luck people will tip. Usually a small tip, and they generally only order a special or just pizzas.

The losers order wings, soda, and other sides as well as pizza. They'll stiff you. Why the hell not order a $2.49 soda. I ainst gotsa pay fo it. I get my gubbermint check!

Sorry you had to go through that. I have a friend and co-worker who had his former family primary residence (they moved to a better home) in the program. I had to go with him to serve as a witness for him. We got to the house and found it was abandoned a week before (no notice) and was totally destroyed. It cost him thousands to get it back to rentable state. The .gov folks didn't cover all of the costs as they claimed thet would.

MB888 - Is there a way to have a limitation of "single-family" in your rental agreement ?

I agree with you Pr1ncess & you too Sniper. Some people actually need the help but they are doing everything they can to help themselves. It's those folks I have no problem helping. Everyone else can got in the gutter as far as I'm concerned.

Sniper - you mentioned the devastation caused by Katrina. You may recall that AFTER Katrina, Iowa had severe widespread flooding that created just as much devastation - but most of us never heard word one about that in the news - it was barely covered. Those folks didn't get all of the hand-outs and government help and freebies or all of the people coming to help rebuild like N.O. received. I suppose their racial and socio-economic status didn't warrant such aid.

Anyone ever hear of W.I.C. (stands for Women, Infants, and Children)?
This is an excellent program that helps those families with pregnant women, infants, and/or young children on limited incomes with FOOD. But, not jut ANY food, they tell you exactly what types of food you can get. They limit the brands of breakfast cereals participants can get - none of that hollow-caloried all sugar-no nutritional value stuff... You can't sell the tickets to anyone else. You can't buy steaks, etc. with the coupons - just reasonable nutritional food.

Why can't the "food stamp" program work like that?

TBF, when I lived in Florida we were hit directly by a couple of category 3 hurricanes in the space of a month and a year later there were still houses with tarps on the roof - and this was after we had contractors moving in to empty houses and living in teams to do recovery work. After Ivan (I think; the one that came in from the gulf and crossed the center of the state) it took about 18 months to restore power to some people. Katrina was many times worse than anything we went through.

my mom was a wic nutritionist for years. she has got some good deadbeat stories.

one of the fixes this country needs (along with term limits and a line item veto) is a constitutional end to all welfare.

Tryin' to keep my mouth shut......

I'm a young guy... I've worked all my stinking life. Even before I was 18 I was on the farm working sun up to past sun down. I work my butt off and barely get by. I went to college and barely get by. I'm not living outside of my means or anything, just have student loans to repay, credit card from moving/etc, and blah blah blah. I have the dreams of owning a nice car, a few firearms, some trumpets, and having fun with life. But boy does it tick me off when I see some of these folks driving $60K cars with their rims and stereos, smoking pot all day and playing video games on their 55 inch brand new TV, etc. Grr... keeping my mouth shut......

And that is the type of work ethic that needs to be instilled and rewarded. I can even point that finger at myself, I know damn well that my work ethic is not on par with that of my father's generation. Both he and my uncle worked full time jobs and attended prestigious universities full time because their family couldn't provide a cent towards their education. They made (as I'm sure many of the members here have done) their own way with hard, dedicated work. That is something I can look up to, however nowadays the only thing many of my generation knows is that handouts are plentiful so why work hard for anything. It makes me sad everyday to look around and know that hard working, innovative Americans are being weeded out in favor of government dependent clones.

It's in most standard contract - e.g. any visitor that stays over 14 days require to notify landlord etc etc etc. Most don't care to do so obviously.

The worst part about section 8 or free housing out there, these city inspectors will make you spend $$$ to replace carpet, windows etc etc etc eventhough the tenants are the ones who destroyed them. Once a year maintenance thing is ok by me, but I had a tenant who completely ruined my floor in a month then broke a freaking pipe in the basement to get the inspector out and cited me to replace all those. And BTW..the pipe got smashed with a hammer!!! Freeloaders! HANDOUTS will not help the poor and needy, it will put them into this gimme gimme gimme comatose syndrome. Most people know it, why mr. I know it all obama doesnt!!!!

don't worry it will pay off in the end. at least you keep your nose clean, those retards will end up in jail and lose all their material items but continue to live off our tax dollars.
Hopefully we get some real "change" in 2010 and 2012 and work on cutting back on the programs that give so much to those who don't deserve it.
