It's interesting to see what happens when an armed criminal scumbag comes up against an armed law-abiding citizen. One criminal shot dead, the other held at gunpoint until Police arrive to make arrest of the criminal not at room temperature, and then cite the armed citizen with a misdemeanor: http://www.peoplespresscollective.org/2010/04/omaha-walgreens-shooting-customer-shoots-and-kills-armed-robber/.

Good for him! Good for him being effective in a bad situation. It's a shame he's being charged for not having a permit, I know it's the law...it's a bad law.
glad he got one of em!
the bullshit misdemeanor is a slap in the face, hopefully those who he helped save will chime in and the charge will get dropped.
They should change the law, not drop the charge.

Pedestrian in West Chicago Shot by Armed Robber (http://www.chicagobreakingnews.com/2010/04/man-shot-in-robbery-attempt-on-west-side.html)
/end sarcasm
These law enforcement and city attorneys should be grateful of armed citizens who fight back!!!!!

Very nice sarcasm!
I agree - this guy saved the taxpayers and the courts from getting jammed up with a criminal case against BG #1. I guess the city will use the money he saved them from BG#1's trial and apply it to HIS trial! Bad law!

Agreed. If this isn't reason enough for adopting Vermont Carry (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_laws_in_the_United_States_(by_state)#Vermont), I don't know what is...
Update (http://www.peoplespresscollective.org/2010/04/omaha-walgreens-shooting-customer-shoots-and-kills-armed-robber/): Douglas County Attorney will not be filing any charges against the Hero. He said, Mr. McCullough's use of dadly force was appropriate and justified.
Win for the good guys!

Any loss of life is regrettable, but in this scenario, it was much better than the alternative.
If you value your life, don't walk into Walgreens and point a shotgun at a stranger.

I never go to walgreens without. Just again, two days ago, was there and all of the sudden, every store clerk went blasting out the doors after someone... guess they stole some items or something... kinda freaks you out... "what did I miss, should I run too?..."
Guess I need to start driving out of my way to the walgreens in the better part of town... ha ha.

KETV has posted an exclusive video interview (http://www.ketv.com/video/23288954/) with Harry McCullough’s attorney, James Davis. This should serve as a good reminder that if you choose to carry daily, then it's not a bad idea to establish a relationship with an attorney familiar with your state and local firearm laws.

From the Nebraska Firearm Owners Association (http://www.nebraskafirearms.org/) website:
Everyone is most likely aware on Monday April 26 just before 9:00 pm a pair of armed robbers entered an Omaha Walgreens and an armed civilian shot one of the robbers, killing him, and held the other until police arrived to secure the scene. Harry J. McCullough III will not face any criminal charges for the shooting, but is facing possible charges for carrying concealed without a permit, something that has not yet been proven. He is a competitive shooter and member of the NFOA.
His Smith and Wesson 4" M&P .40 caliber was confiscated by Omaha Police Dept. and it will likely be over a year until he gets it back (if ever). He needs a new carry gun, and the NFOA Board of Directors has made arrangements with an FFL member in the Omaha area to get another S&W for him at dealer cost. The Board has also offered to pay for this firearm for him, and request donations from our members to cover this expense. We had not intended to publicize this donation at this time, but Mr. McCullough thought we should be recognized for our efforts to help him continue to have a way to protect himself.
We, The Board of Directors, felt that you should be informed of this action before it appears in the paper. Also, at this time we are announcing that all donations made to the NFOA on our website using the Google “ NFOA Defender” button will be used to cover this expense. Any funds raised beyond the cost of this purchase will go to the NFOA General Fund, which could be used to help other members or legal expenses for Mr. McCullough, if needed. We are also hoping to hold a fundraiser to assist with these expenses if someone in the Omaha area has an idea for an event or a place to hold such an event please contact any board member to offer your assistance. We cannot put something like this together without the assistance of our members.

President NFOAHarry potentially saved the lives of the other customers in that Walgreens, and now after choosing to do the right thing, he has swelling legal fees and a handgun to replace. Head over to the NFOA website (http://www.nebraskafirearms.org/). Please consider giving; even $10 would help (https://checkout.google.com/view/buy?o=shoppingcart&shoppingcart=912878997088408).
Wow, that's really great how much he is being stood up for. Are they going to shut off donations after they reach the dealer price though?
Hmm... me thinks I need to set up a fund for..... me!
HAHAHAHAHAHA
That is really neat that they are doing that for him though...

NFOA says, "Any funds raised beyond the cost of this purchase will go to the NFOA General Fund, which could be used to help other members or legal expenses for Mr. McCullough, if needed."
Yeah, it's cool that the Nebraskan Gun Culture is looking out for our own. I'm kicking in because that's what I'd hope other people would do for me if I was ever in the Hero's situation.
