View Full Version : Does this happen to anyone else or just me?
It seems like every time I start a personal project (car, gun, etc), every ounce of my energy and every cent in my wallet gets tied into other stupid things that can't be put off. Wish I had the money and time to just finish things in a timely manner for once in my life...
hahaha yea thats the way it goes, ive been trying to paint my motorcycle since last fall but i keep spending all my money on guns. its the sacrafice we make to be happy hahahaha
I don't know what you're talking about, none of my sacrifices as of late have been for my happiness [Bang]. I just figure that pendulum will swing the other way soon enough though.

Yup. Just happened to me again today. Woke up to a COLD house. Furnace was out. Not being an HVAC trained person I did what every male does - I opened the cover to the furnace, looked around, jiggled wires, nodded, scratched myself, then smacked something with the handle of my screwdriver. This time, it actually worked - briefly. The furnace ignitor came on, the gas and flame began - and warmed the house up to where the thermostat was set.
Of course, this was a one time good deal as it wouldnt come back on later. I took 1/2 day off from work, called the HVAC guys, they came and replaced my ignitor & cleaned the flame sensor (even showed me how to do that - and advised I do it once a year). Cost me $250.
After a cat vet bill last month of over $600, etc., etc. I never get to do anything that *I* want with my money - just what I need to do with it.

All I kept thinking was that the money I was putting out for this bill would almost cover me getting a new Sig 250 2 Sum.
Of course, the cat is my little buddy and I had to do everything I could to help him (turns out he was severely dehydrated and [er, hm] majorly constipated). He's on a prune and metamucil diet now (j/k).

you and me both.
van is workable, but not how I want it.
yard isn't how I want it, nor how SWMBO wants it
garage isn't how I want it
not enough guns
the usual stuff
I feel you on the cat front. I have a twenty year old cat who always needs some sort of medicine, check up, etc

Story of my life friend... but I keep telling myself, "one day..."

Im set as far as that goes, Obama's gonna take care of all of my wishes! Really though, ammo or bills......damned bills always win.
I posted on another topic but it fits here pretty good
for You TS,,,
I am passing this on to you because it definitely worked for me, and we
all could probably use more calm in our lives.
Some doctor on television this morning said that the way to achieve
Inner Peace is to finish all the things you have started.
So, I looked around my house to see things I'd started and hadn't
finished and, before leaving the house this morning, I finished off a
bottle of Merlot, a bottle of shhhardonay, a boodle of Baileys, a butle
of vocka, a pockage of Prunglies, tha mainder of bot Prozic and Valum
scriptins, the res of the Chesescke an a box a chocolets.

That's the way of the world for me I'm afraid... Having had particularly good sales in the first quarter. I was looking at a particularly nice 6.8 on the board.
Before I can figure out a time to even go look at it my daughter show's me half of a chewed up disposable razor. Apparently the dog got into the trash and thought it to be a fine chew toy! We looked and found no other pieces... Off to the vet for an Xray.
Sure enough there it is.. Now we wait... and check..
Of course if the razor does pass my wife points out that the drywall in the basement needs to be finished and the steps onto the back porch should really be repoured, of course she's right. Plus she reminds me that she want's to go back for her Masters this year (she's a nurse). I've got several months to obtain the toys I want as there won't be any more for the next two years!
Guess I'll be finishing the drywall myself (I suck at it!)

I'll trade you a paint job on that bike for a gun!
Mtn.man - all of that - too early in the morning for me. i may have to visit the town of Bailey, seems there are advantages to living there.
My wife and I are the same way, when we start something we become single minded and get it done. We don't allow distractions leave things undone.

Let me know, I am quite good at it. I'm sure we could come to some sort of arrangement.. I also have a few concrete skills also..

If I have the time for a project, I don't have the money. If I have the money for a project, something expensive breaks. Like the wife checking to see if the airbags worked on her truck.

+1 except the the wife checking the air bags part.
Between school, looking for work and hoping to get my Mustang running with a 302 in it I don't have time to finish an AK project I was working on. I also rent an apartment and I have to make it ready for some new people. I have to put in carpet and I've never laid it. And my place could use it more but I want to attract and keep people and you have to spend money to make money.

My problem is a little different. Trying to conserve cash but also get those last few nagging projects done around the house like rebuilding the fountain in the back yard, paint the porch and the fence... and my wife wants a S&W 327PD.
On second thought, I have no right at all to complain.

My dad always said a guy could have either enough time, or enough money, but never enough time and money.
I always say, Time and money, and precious little of either.....
Having resources available to dedicate to my many projects is really the only thing about being single that I miss. I find it amazing that, according to my wife, there is no $700 bucks available right now for the 3 point hitch conversion I want to install on my tractor, but somehow, mysteriously, there IS money available for 4000 sq ft of sod. Equally mysterious to me is that somehow I will be the one installing and maintaining said sod.
And she wonders why I hide money from her.......[LOL]
