I don't know if it's been posted or true. An e-mail I just got.

> VERY QUIETLY OBAMA'S CITIZENSHIP CASE REACHES THE SUPREME COURT
>
> AP - WASHINGTON D.C. -
> In a move certain to fuel the debate over Obama's qualifications for the presidency, the group "Americans for Freedom of Information" has Released copies of President Obama's college transcripts from Occidental College. Released today, the transcript school indicates that Obama, under the name Barry Soetoro, received financial aid as a foreign student from Indonesia as an undergraduate. The transcript was released by Occidental College in compliance with a court order in a suit brought by the group in the Superior Court of California. The transcript shows that Obama (Soetoro) applied for financial aid and was awarded a fellowship for foreign students from the Fulbright Foundation Scholarship program. To qualify, for the scholarship, a student must claim foreign citizenship.
> This document would seem to provide the smoking gun that many of Obama's detractors have been seeking. Along with the evidence that he was first born in Kenya and there is no record of him ever applying for US citizenship, this is looking pretty grim. The news has created a firestorm at the White House as the release casts increasing doubt about Obama's legitimacy and qualification to serve as President article titled, "Obama Eligibility Questioned," leading some to speculate that the story may overshadow economic issues on Obama's first official visit to the U.K. In a related matter, under growing pressure from several groups, Justice Antonin Scalia announced that the Supreme Court agreed on Tuesday to hear arguments concerning
> Obama's legal eligibility to serve as President in a case brought by Leo Donofrio of New Jersey. This lawsuit claims Obama's dual citizenship disqualified him from serving as president. Donofrio's case is just one of 18 suits brought by citizens demanding proof of Obama's citizenship or qualification to serve as president.
>
> Gary Kreep of the United States Justice Foundation has released the results of their investigation of Obama's campaign spending. This study estimates that Obama has spent upwards of $950,000 in campaign funds in the past year with eleven law firms in 12 states for legal resources to block disclosure of any of his
> personal records. Mr. Kreep indicated that the investigation is still ongoing but that the final report will be provided to the U..S. Attorney general, Eric Holder. Mr. Holder has refused to comment on the matter...

> Subject: RE: Issue of Passport?
>
> While I've little interest in getting in the middle of the Obama birth issue, Paul Hollrah over at FSM did so yesterday and believes the issue can be resolved by Obama answering one simple question: What passport did he use when he was shuttling between New York , Jakarta , and Karachi ?
>
> So how did a young man who arrived in New York in early June
> 1981, without the price of a hotel room in his pocket, suddenly come up with the price of a round-the-world trip just a month later?
>
> And once he was on a plane, shuttling between New York , Jakarta , and Karachi , what passport was he offering when he passed through Customs and Immigration?
>
> The American people not only deserve to have answers to these questions, they must have answers.
> It makes the debate over Obama's citizenship a rather short and simple one.
>
> Q: Did he travel to Pakistan in 1981, at age 20?
> A : Yes, by his own admission.
>
> Q: What passport did he travel
> under?
> A: There are only three possibilities.
> 1) He traveled with a U.S... Passport,
> 2) He traveled with a British passport, or
> 3) He traveled with an Indonesia passport.
>
> Q: Is it possible that Obama traveled with a U.S. Passport in 1981?
> A: No. It is not possible. Pakistan was on the U.S... State Department's "no travel" list in 1981.
>
> Conclusion: When
> Obama went to Pakistan in 1981 he was traveling either with a British passport or an Indonesian passport.
>
> If he were traveling with a British passport that would provide proof that he was born in Kenya on August 4, 1961, not in Hawaii as he claims. And if he were traveling with an Indonesian passport that would tend to prove that he relinquished whatever previous citizenship he held, British or American, prior to being adopted by his Indonesian step-father in 1967.
>
> Whatever the truth of the matter, the American people need to know how he managed to become a "natural born" American citizen between 1981 and 2008..
>
> Given the destructive nature of his plans for America, as illustrated by his speech before Congress and the disastrous spending plan he has presented to Congress, the sooner we learn the truth of all this, the better.
>
> If you Don't care that Your President is not a natural born Citizen and in Violation of the Constitution, then Delete this, and then lower your American Flag to half-staff, because the U.S. Constitution is already on life-support, and won't survive much longer.
>
> If you do care then Forward this to as many patriotic Americans as you can,
> because our country is being looted and ransacked!
>

NO WAY! It's on the internet. It must be true!
Yup,, just like TV it's allll REAL...........
LET OTHER FOLKS KNOW THIS NEWS, THE MEDIA WON'T !
Perhaps the media won't let people know, but they took 30 seconds to do a little research and find out that it's false. I know, pesky facts in the way of your conspiracy theory.

Source cited at the problem. Here's a tip, anytime someone forwards you an email, google for "snopes" plus some key phrases from the email. If it's true, forward away. If it's false, reply back to whoever sent it with the link you found and this tip.
Do your part to fight misinformation (of all kinds)

What everybody forgets is that even though His Mother all but renounced Her citizenship, She was still a citizen, Thus, no matter where He was born, by that, He is a citizen.. The only thing that they could possibly have, is dual citizenship until He was 21.. At which point He would need to choose..

It is my understanding that:
There were two newspaper birth announcements for him in the Hawaii papers within the week he was born.
That seems like A LOT of foresight and trouble to go through because "someday that boy's a'gonna be the President... "
I personaly have never seen them... but hey, I never saw mine...
Now - I have heard rumors he applied for grants because he was a foregin national... but that is just that - rumors.
Of course - he could just produce the long form and be done with it... instead of spending money to fight lawsuits...

The birthers drive moderates to the left is the way I see it. Plus some people are so invested in the idea that he's not a US citizen that no degree of proof is going to be enough for them.
I strongly suspect that 'dear leader' is a citizen. But then I wonder why all his papers are being withheld from the public.
What is bamboozle hiding?

Bring tension to the max. Produce the papers that he is a legal resident. Tell the rightwing to STFU and completely weild the "power" to ruin our great nation as everyone laughs at the conspiracy theorists, etc....
my two cents
Snopes owned by left wing liberal press.
It could be owned by the Gingerbread man... that doesn't matter! The sources are all cited, so unless you have better citations that refute them...
As for, you know, researching to see if your statement was true or not: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snopes.com -- they're in California, but seemingly "apolitical." Appears to be owned by a husband and wife.
Here's a interesting test, find a conservative positive rumor that's true, and see if Snopes says it is true or false (or even lists it)

Are there any?!
Are there any?!
I didn't check but... lets see, yeah
This says Sarah Palin banned books from the library, Snopes says False. Sarah Palin was a category in there that I figured there would be liberal bashing on, and there are several noted as false..

McCain

Here they even provide footage to prove the photo of Obama not putting his hand over his heart isn't disingenuous.
http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/anthem.asp
So it's certainly not as one sided as something from MSNBC or FOX would be. If you go and weigh and measure every response to see if the author is kinder to libs or not, well that's not something I have time to do

Oh please. I think the guy is the worst thing since Billy Boy Clinton or Jimmy "Killer Rabbit" Carter but this birth certificate stuff is stupid and just detracts from the legitimate complaints about how he lied and connived his way into office.

but with his birth certificate, why does he continue to fight soo hard to keep it hidden along with his college records, his chewbacka for a wifes college thesis paper in question, his passport, his travels that wouldn't have allowed him to be a US citizen?
I understand no matter what, even if he did bring out a birth certificate that seemed to match up with one that is truly legit, people would still say it is fake and he shouldn't be president. I just don't understand why the huge conspiracy to hide everything.

Maybe he doesn't produce it because he feels he doesn't have to. Maybe he doesn't produce it because not doing so keeps spawning these stupid rumors which makes his opponents look like idiots. Maybe he just wants the issue out there as a distraction to keep people from talking about his overtly communist agenda?
Either way, I'd focus my energy and efforts on crap like Holder or Napolitano keep doing, his proclivity for consorting with EXTREMIST liberals like Bill Ayres or racist pigs like Jeremiah Wright. The more time and energy you spend on this kind of crap, the less you have for the real complaints.
You know I think Stuart has it nailed!
Old Obomination is planning a trip to AZ so he's crapping his pants.
As for other comments:
1. I find it pretty amazing too how he keeps all his records hidden
2. His wife = scary!
In my legal alien opinion you only hide things for a reason. Or does he think that now he’s the ‘great one’ he doesn’t need to prove anything.
One thing it does prove is that I was right all along. He talked the talk during the campaign but is FOS!

Snopes isn't a trustworthy source for ANYTHING. It was revealed a while back that a husband and wife team were just guessing at most of the shit they posted. I'm not saying they're right, left or anything political... just wrong.

[citation needed] You know when you view a Snopes link, those words in blue that are underlined you can click on, and be taken to various sources of the information. Seems like they're really lucky to have guessed working links that contain information related to the article.
I'm not saying they're the gospel truth on every subject, but when it comes to checking on this crazy story your friend just emailed you, it's the first place you should go. And if you want more detail, look for links that show where the information came from.
Everything on the internet is true, anyway. [Coffee]

What I should have said is they have been wrong on things before. For the most part it's good information and more often than not it's correct information. I guess I'm saying that they've made mistakes in the past, they will make mistakes again and you should always do your own independent research.

Opinionated news suck! Barry's mom is a US Citizen, it doesn't matter where he was born as long as he can prove mommy is citizen, he'll get his birth certificate.
IMHO, he is hush hush about the whole subject, because he was born in Kenya eventhough he is a legit citizen. Otherwise, GOP would be all over his case.

Oh sure! Same with Wikipedia. However they're both the place to start... it's like getting a Cliff Notes synopsis with links to read more if you're inclined.
Can you remember the day when the answer to most every question wasn't thirty seconds away?

Was it you who said the same thing before, and when I asked you to give some examples you weren't able to?
They have made mistakes, and they correct their mistakes very swiftly. They're constantly updating entries, all the time. The site isn't even a political site, it's about urban legends. I've been interested in ULs for years, way back to pre-internet days when Jan Harold Brunvand was the only source for them, so I've been visiting snopes almost since its inception and the explosion of political entries is a relatively new thing. The lengths they go to to attempt to verify information is pretty exhaustive, and as Hoosier said they source almost everything they say, which is something their detractors don't seem able to manage.
Can you remember the day when the answer to most every question wasn't thirty seconds away?
H.
Not really, I'll have to look it up some time.
Was it you who said the same thing before, and when I asked you to give some examples you weren't able to?
Nope, wasn't me. I used it going back many years though and it was fairly accurate but as of late I have heard of a few mistakes/inaccuracies involving that site so it's not as iron clad as some would believe.
I'd love to hear of some examples. Especially the 'guessing' part. After whoever it was who said there were many examples of them being wrong, I went hunting online and really the only examples I could find were of people repeating the "they have a well known liberal bias" story.
So really, it's almost a classic urban legend. Everyone has heard that the Mikkelsons have a well known liberal bias, but they've all heard it from a friend of a friend :D
Jake, he pretty much already covered this on page 2.
What I should have said is they have been wrong on things before. For the most part it's good information and more often than not it's correct information. I agree with focusing on those issues as well, but if by some chance it was proven he wasn't legal and couldn't be president, we could rid ourselves of him completely, then we could care less who he associates/associated himself with!
