Cheyenne Wells Machine Gun Shoot was awesome. My first time seeing a .50BMG shot, and my first time shooting one thanks to 50bmg Ryan from the board here. Also got some trigger time on his M16 (or M4?) with the optics on it. Very fun!

I got there and there was about an hour of shooting. Then they stopped for lunch and to put out the fires that had been started way down range. Before shooting started again they put a car down range with a drum (of gasoline?) in the trunk. When the announcer counted down to 1 for firing to resume, it was just an amazing wall of air pressure as dozens of .50 cals and who knows how many other full auto guns lit it up. Needless to say, it stopped driving it's circle about a minute after catching on fire.

I shot mags through Steyr AUG, FN P90, FN F2000, H&K G36. Was a ton of fun, highly recommend everyone making time in their schedule (and budget) for it next year. I know I am!

Thanks again to Ryan and the CO-AR15 shirted people. Very friendly and got me hitting shots so far out I had time to re-sight on the target in time to see it impact.

Next year, I might try camping overnight in the Jeep.

H.

Apparently the F-18's do maneuvers out at Cheyenne Wells so we stopped for 45 minutes while they did them. I got some video using my digital camera. At one point they were about 100 feet off the ground flying right by us then putting on the afterburners to do a steep climb. It was one of the coolest things I have ever seen! I also want to thank Ryan for letting me shoot his Barrett for free!

Me and the grandson went in '08, it was a supreme hoot! I wanted to go this year, but I have to drive long distances very often for work, and I just hate it anymore. Plus it would have cost me a damn fortune, the kid wants to shoot everything he sees. And I like to get a little trigger time too, ya know. Then there's a hotel room, I'd have to stay for the night firing extravaganza and I'm not driving back the same night.

Yeah, I know, whine whine whine.

But man, I'm SO glad this event happens, and gives us great unwashed masses the opportunity to enjoy those weapons! [M2]

Here's some videos I took in '08, just a taste of the coolness.......

Thanks! Once upon a time, I figured out how to capture single photos from my videos. That's where those photos came from, they're single frames from videos, that's why they're not very sharp but that's how I got the freeze-action thing. I probably couldn't figure it out again.
