An interesting lager, if you find yourself on business or casual travel in the following cities and your schedule permits, try it out.
BTW - Growlers are still prevelant in some markets, the Milwaukee Ale House is a prime example for other old school recipes served in these containers. "Ales what cures ya'..."

Pre-Prohibition Style Lager Returns with Batch 19

In 1919, Prohibition forever changed the brewing industry. Breweries went out of business and recipes for many beer brands and styles were lost for good.
Until now.
Starting this month, beer drinkers are getting a taste of what beer was like before Prohibition, thanks to Batch 19, a pre-Prohibition style lager based on a recently-discovered, authentic, 91-year-old recipe.
Brewmaster [name removed] discovered the recipe for this defiantly bold lager in an old logbook at the Golden Brewery.
“The archived logbook with this old recipe was stored in the basement of the brewery and forgotten about until a small flood prompted me to move them to safety,” [name deleted] said. “When I realized what I had found, it was something I knew I had to brew. This recipe is part of our history and beer fans are really enjoying the chance to taste the past.”
Batch 19 delivers a bold, hoppy flavor that is surprisingly well-balanced – and entirely fitting of the types of beers served before beer was banned.
Batch 19 derives its bold taste by using a rare combination of hops, including Hersbrucker and Strisslespalt.”
We’re also resurrecting a pre-Prohibition way of enjoying beer – the growler. In the late 1800s and early 1900s, taverns used these half-gallon containers to serve beer to patrons. The name is rumored to originate from the sound of carbon dioxide escaping from the lid as the beer sloshed around in the container.
Batch 19 will be available on draft – and served in containers based on the growlers from the early 20th century – in limited quantities and in select accounts in Chicago, San Francisco, San Jose, Washington, D.C. and Milwaukee....check out Batch 19 at these locations:
