I can't believe this poll is actually going this way..

where is the option to expel the kids that are "offended" by the flag?

The nerve of those kids wear American flags on Cinco de Mayo. Don't they know that's insensitive.

fuck those who are offended by it, if they are offended in some way, they can go home.

the kids have to stand up and do the pledge of allegiance at schools, they sign the national anthem at athletic events, so there should be no issue with the flag being in the classroom.

THIS IS FOR REAL!!!!! Read the article in USA Todayhttp://www.usatoday.com/news/world/2010-03-14-haiti-flag-flap_N.htm (http://www.usatoday.com/news/world/2010-03-14-haiti-flag-flap_N.htm)

Following the devastating earthquake in Haiti , the United States rushed in to help - with money, medicine, and manpower. To date, we've already given over $179 million in humanitarian aid... but Barack Obama has just ordered all U.S. installations to take down their American flags (http://hotair.com/greenroom/archives/2010/03/16/obama-demands-that-the-us-flag-not-be-flown-in-haiti/)

, lest we be seen as an "occupying army" rather than "international partners."

It is patently appalling that a president of the United States would consider our flag to be a symbol of militaristic takeovers and colonialism, especially when serving (to a greater degree than any other nation on Earth) a humanitarian purpose.
Additionally, who would think we'd want to occupy Haiti ?!

No other country giving aid in Haiti has lowered its flag. But then again, no other country has a leader who is offended by their own flag

.

IMO,

If anyone is offended by OLD GLORY, they have no business being in this country. I don't care what day it is, especially a so called mexican holiday that is only celebrated in the US.

There is something seriously fucking wrong with a lot of people in this country. It feels like a disease just ripping away the pride of being an American, and it has infected many of our citizens.

And FYI Cinco de Mayo IS not the Mexican holiday the 16th of May is
Cinco de Mayo was started by Corona beer...

!!!Stupid Americans!!!
~ Cinco de Mayo ~
It was invented by the Corona beer company to sell beer…
Mexican Independence Day is Sept 16 – not May 5.
The Mexicans don’t even celebrate Cinco de Mayo!

I bet that poll link is passed around all over forums that are against the flag. Same case happened with gun control poll that resulting with 90% pro gun sort of things because we were actively passing the links out.

With all due respect.

I am one of those that learned respect for the American flag and what it stands for at an early age. I have watched and participated in flag retiring ceremonies (still one of the most memorable and moving event I have ever witnessed). I have been dumbfounded by people's utter lack of respect or just plain ignorance when an American flag is raised, lowered or it proper use.

That said, IMO improper use of the flag does not show patriotism.

The Flag Code states that the flag should never be worn. (Section 8d): "The flag should never be used as wearing apparel."http://www.ushistory.org/betsy/faq.htm#q031
http://www.ushistory.org/betsy/flagcode.htm

As far as people being offended by the American flag, too bad.

I think and belive this is more gear towards wearing an ACTUAL FLAG as a "cape" or wrapped around yourself like a towel or dress..

having a printed shirt with a picture of a flag on it is perfectly ok .

this is the same as a solider wearing a flag patch on his shoulder.

Cinco De Mayo (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cinco_de_Mayo)

Ok...let me get this straight: A holiday that celebrates a minor, and temporary victory over the French? Isn't that like winning the Special Olympics? [LOL]

and the main reason they won was due to the French getting sick on their water...

I personally hated Cinco til I read the wikipedia version.

It is apparently a completely made up holiday like valentines day.

You Can't blame a "people" for something made up by big corporation's

That's why it is huge in Colorado ( and NOT New Mexico,.. trust me I grew up there) it's all alcohol companies pushing an agenda to sell more beer.

If One thing is true.. all Americans. white black brown yellow or purple... we look for a reason to party.

Nothing is more American then drinking your ass off.. lets be honest.

i know a couple days they could subsitute then...instead of partying on the 5 th of may. Might I suggest. July 4th. Quatro de Julio.
Memorial day,
Veterans Day,
and probably most important November 10th. Diez de Noviembre.

all of these days would be great paryting and drinking days. even memorial day as we raise a glass to those who gave us this great nation.

and of course November 10th is a drinking day. That day came from paryting at a bar. or something like that.

anyone know what 10 november is? if you know and you should know dont say. leave it for the others to find out or guess.

Whats the difference between Cinco De Mayo and St. Paddy's day ??

Should the American Flag Be Banned -- in America?

Current Poll Results:

No. This is a lame decision. Teach the kids what the flag means, instead of banning it. 28% (200,534 votes) Yes. The safety of students comes first. 67% (477,981 votes)

Not sure, but of all things to ban, the American flag would seem the least 'incendiary.' <1% (1,819 votes)

Other (post a comment) 5% (34,201 votes)

Total Votes: 714,535

What the heck is wrong with this country? People have absolutely lost their minds.

Wonder if La Raza has anything to do with the results.

A U.S. flag went up at a temporary consular station set up in the first few days on the airport tarmac, according to Charles Luoma-Overstreet, a State Department spokesman in Haiti.
"Apparently, the prime minister (Jean-Max Bellerive) saw this" and thought it appeared as if the United States were taking over the airport, Luoma-Overstreet said.

If it so offended him, we should have promptly and graciously apologized for the offense, packed our sh!t and left their country; taking all of our relief dollars with us.

That is hil-freaking-arious!

But, in all fairness, they have to celebrate their victories where they can - seeing as how they have so very few of them.

Perhaps we should resurrect an old chant:

Hellmann's Mayonnaise - a bit of history.
(In the Western States, it is known as Best Foods Mayonnaise)

Most people don't know that back in 1912, Hellmann's mayonnaise was manufactured in England.
In fact, the Titanic was carrying 12,000 jars of the condiment scheduled for delivery in Vera Cruz, Mexico, which was to be the next port of call for the great ship after its stop in New York .
This would have been the largest single shipment of mayonnaise ever delivered to Mexico.
But as we know, the great ship did not make it to New York . The ship hit an iceberg and sank, and the cargo was forever lost.
The people of Mexico, who were crazy about mayonnaise, and were eagerly awaiting its delivery, were disconsolate at the loss.
Their anguish was so great, that they declared a National Day of Mourning, which they still observe to this day.
The National Day of Mourning occurs each year on May 5th and is known, of course, as -

Sinko De Mayo.

WHAT??? You expected something educational?

the Irish have better PR and have been doing it longer. thats about it.

The diffrence is the irish dont pull down the American flag and run a irish flag up the pole, or dont cry when someone has an American flag on their shirt. American flags are flown with pride in st patty parades.

The Mexicans are in my opinion the largets racist group in this country and they have a new supreme court justice that is a member of their club.
LaRaza is a racist group the same as the KKK and NAZI clubs, only diffrence is the Dems switched from the old white man KKK to the brown mans LaRaza party because that is the popular club these days.
