View Full Version : Affordable cabinets made here in Colorado
I own a small cabinet shop in Woodland Park, though we have worked everywhere in the state except the western slope. Before the recession, we did mostly whole house, new construction and a little remodel work. That has flipped for now and we're doing mostly remodel stuff or new work in existing homes.
We do cabinets and built-in furniture for the whole home including kitchens, baths, entertainment centers, closets...whatever. We also do commercial work when we can get it, but we don't pursue it.
We're generally extremely competitive in price with anyone, including Home Depot and Lowes. For years our tag line has been "A custom shop experience at a big box price", and it's true. The only thing we don't do well is the super low end builder stuff with particle board drawers and thermofoil doors.
Here are a few pics of our work. You can contact me directly at:

Beautiful work friend. That first picture (the kitcken) is prety close to my conception of a dream kitchen, amazing!!!
Thanks Bear.
Here's a few more.
Are you saying you actually MAKE this stuff? Or do installations or catalog products?
Mostly, we start with a pile of sticks and another of sheet goods and build from scratch. On large jobs we'll occasionally buy the doors. We don't mind building 20-30 doors, but more than that just gets dreary.
WOW Beuatiful work Tim K. My father was a carpenter and one of my uncles was an interior trim carpenter and I can resepct the time and patients that goes into quality work like this.

dont really need new cabinets yet, but maybe in 5 years or so. but i am looking for some old cabinets for the garage... :)
I can't help with the old cabinets as they are a hot commodity. Most homeowners doing a remodel know their old stuff is in high demand and I never get a shot at it.
I can however help with inexpensive garage/closet type cabinets. They'll cost a bit more than recycled cabinets but will be much more efficient since they are designed around your space.
You might also check the used building material vendors. There are a couple in COS and I'm sure many more in the Denver area.
Tim did some custom work for me.
To say I am happy is an understatement.
Highly recommended.
Thanks Hoser!
Say, would one of you guys call me please? It's so quiet around here I'm wondering if my phone is working.
That big ol' desk pic is awesome.
Do you do custom work... say like a mute holder or something for my trumpets/etc?

The only thing we don't do is lathe work, so if you need something turned, I can't help. Everything else is fair game, and we're slow enough right now that we'll look at most any project.

What do you want me to call you?

I like "Snookums" or "Peachcup" or even "Sweetiepie". Whatever turns you on.
good gosh this is a nice desk-

Ballpark estimate, what would a 4-drawer mission style dresser go for? Nothing too fancy, just a place to organize socks and underoos.
Is your main competition the overseas imports at the big furniture warehouse place?

We don't really do stand alone furniture, especially not the kind that can be bought at an American Furniture type of place. There is no way to compete on something that can be had mass produced. If you can find it at one of the big furniture chains it will likely be 1/2 or so of what I can do. The larger the project the easier it is to be competitive. By the time you get to a kitchen full or cabinets or an entertainment center we are extremely competitive in cost. We are regularly close to the low bid on jobs, if not the low bidder. Primarily, that's due to low overhead and the fact there is no middle man. I build it, you buy it. With cabinets from most anywhere else, the guy you actually buy from (Home Depot for example) has to make a significant cut.
I'm not trying to dodge your question, God knows we need the work. We just can't compete on stand alone furniture that can be bought in a discount furniture store.

We just received a small feature in Home Theater Design's Website.

Beautiful stuff! Since you don't do one-offs, and I can't find ANY "overjohn" bathroom cabinets anywhere, do you happen to know where I could look for a decent overjohn? You know, the little cabinets that go on the wall over a toilet in small bathoorms. I can't even find any unfinished ones, only plans to build them.
And nice website. May I suggest a "next" button so you can go from, say, "bath 1" right to "bath 2", etc., without having to go back to the main "bath" menu? Same with the other menus.
I see you're in Woodland Park....do you only do work down in that area? I'm in Parker.

Um, all we do is "one-offs". Let me know what you're looking for and we'll hook you up.
Good comment on the "next" button. I can't figure out how to do it, but I'll ask tech support.
Do you refinish cabinets? We just moved into a house that has nice wood cabinets but they are a light pinkish color. I would like to get them stained dark.

do you do all the new fancy type stuff in the kitchen: slow closing drawers, drawer inserts for the spice bottles, cabinet drawers, lazy susans and all that?

We're a full custom shop, so we do all the cool stuff you mentioned and more.
We just (as in today) finished a job for a board member here, and his kitchen is absolutely stuffed with features. Going from memory, we had a blind base pull-out, roll out trays, double decker cutlery drawer, and toe kick drawers. All drawers were slow close, self close, and the door hinges could have been slow close though the customer did not elect to go that route.
We'll be taking delivery of a new machine on Friday (a CNC router) that will allow us to lower our prices even more, and we were already often the low bidder.

I'll vouch for the work and all the nice goodies. Tim installed my cabinets last week. They are fabulous. I'll post pics as soon as the rest of the job catches up.
Here are some pics of a recent job. I'm hoping Scratchy posts the pics of his kitchen soon. This kitchen is in cherry with shaker style doors and drawer fronts. The drawer boxes are solid wood, fully dovetailed with soft close slides and also soft close hinges. The cost was roughly $5,500, and the client installed them himself. Interestingly, he bid us out against Lowes and we came in $500 less.

With "Scratchy's" permission, here are some pics of his kitchen remodel. He did the majority of the work himself, we just supplied the cabinets. Pretty dang nice work if you ask me.

Here are some pics of a job we just finally finished yesterday. It's still in the final cleaning stages and I'll get final pics in a week or so.

Tim does top quality work, very reasonably priced. Will post before and after pics as soon as I get them, but the difference is amazing.

Tim,
May I suggest you update the 1st page to reflect Western Slope?? Anyway, Tim does an excellent job! I have used him twice on a couple of jobs for the V.A. and his work is top notch, on time, on budget. He will bend over backwards for you and make it happen!
Nice work Tim!!

Thanks!
Didn't realize I had never done this before..
SERIOUSLY good work from a very good human. Cabinets are rock solid and look fantastic. Tim is awesome.
I will definitely get in touch with you on my next project.
Oddly, we're in the midst of a summer slow down. If you have a project, now is the time to get extra prompt service.
