COLORADO GUN COLLECTORS SHOW May 15/16 2010.
Not advertising this per say... but I've been told this is a good show for the older stuff.
So if I do go, and would like to have an older rifle to shoot for fun, and cheaply, what would any of you recommend I look for?
Mosin Nagant (spelling?)
something else?
Caliber?
Thanks. [Pepsi]
Same as Tanner. Same vendors for the most part. At least the one I went too was.. Might be a few differant ones..
The nice thing is that there are usually smaller crowds, at least the couple that I went to were.

Interesting, the gentleman that gave me a free ticket to it, really talked it up as a great show, not at all like tanner, better vendors, etc...
Anything is possible.. Like I said though, the one I went to was just Tanner by another name.. Good luck with it.. do an AAR..

This is the once a year collectibles show. It is worth going to but no black rifles present. I am going to look for another Winchester 88

Same location as Tanner I believe.
This is the type of stuff you can't see anywhere else and it is definitely worth seeing. Remember, this is a collector's show so they will not have anything on display or for sale that is not at least 50 years old. Admission is $8.00 per day.

gnihcraes,
Thanks for the info. However, I just arrived here in the Springs last Saturday and I have no idea where the Tanner show was held. I should have been more clear while I was posting my question. Could you be more specific? Thanks in advance for your help.

Sure, didn't mean to leave any details out, they didn't even include more than I did in their email about the show. Doh.

Basically I-25 and 58th Ave, North East Corner of that intersection. west side of the merchandise mart.
Get off on 58th ave, take immediate Left. (difficult sometimes) Or you can go up to the next light, turn left and come around the building/parking lots to the west side.
If anyone has better directions, feel free to add/update/correct.

Thanks brother!!
I went, haven't been to a Collectors show before.
I thought it was great, tons of history in those rooms. If you're looking for a lever gun I'd bet you will find it there. There were some really nice displays too.
It was a good show like last years, more tables than the tanner shows, more knives, spurs, and an old sombrero for $2500 lots of stuff from the early 1900's pepper boxes lever guns and old colts ect. I noticed some really over priced m1 carbines at least I thought so.

good to hear, I'll run up on sunday morning to check things out just for fun...
I was at the show ALL day Saturday. I really, really enjoyed it.
There had to be over 1,000 table of history there. It seems like it was more Winchester, say 65% lever guns like the 1886, 1873 etc of the wild west era, later lever guns like the 71 and 1895. Malin levers were all over as well. Some Colt. A lot of muzzle loaders. Some very high grade and high priced stuff. I say an engraved 1911 for $65,000, a high grade 1886 for $38,000.
Vendors came from all over the US.
It was a refresing change from the usual Tanner type shows.

it was a lot larger than I expected, larger than tanner. Some nice displays there, I liked the Winchester Model 42 display, great looking items and information there.
I liked the Model 42 display, also.
Beautiful guns from a bygone era.
I like seeing Roy Rogers Model 12 as well. I've heard that story before that he bought it from Clark Gable at the trap range.
That Roy Rogers table was really cool.
