View Full Version : I hate boulder even more now
Just got a ticket in the mail...when I was heading to my moms wedding I was a little bit late so I was speeding, not going to deny it.
no cops caught me.
but their stupid fucking cameras did, so they took pictures of the car, tried to get pictures of me but luckily the tinted windows didn't allow them to get my face or anything.
after googling it, there isn't a whole lot you can do about it.
it is only $40, but what a fucking waste of money, and I hate the city it is going to...

I'm with you bro, Free parking after 7 pm right. At 10 mins to 7 I get a parking ticket. It's really stupid how they have it. You have to walk down the block and pay there were no meters where I parked. Didn't know I had to pay. I don't plan on going back.
hahaha meters got me twice there, i aint paying or going back there

There is nothing there anyways......
If you know the exact place, could you please tell us where it was ?
but what a fucking waste of money
I would actually like to know what the city makes off these speeding tickets? I bet they get decent revenue from this!
Anyway, I'm with you about shitty ass boulder...the people suck!
Not sure they have speed cameras but they have red light ones at a few places. If you cross the line after the red light you get a photo.

Yup, boulder does not have speed cameras, but they do have red light cameras at only a few key intersections where lots of accidents occur.
28th and Arapahoe one got me around 2005.
Had tons of CU and Boulder Parking tickets during mid to late 90s.
Outside 4mile radius of CU campus of Boulder is not too bad.

Try again. The white van that is always parked at the base of Boulder Canyon does nothing but photograph speeders.
I feel the same way every time I drive through traps at 36 & Federal.[Rant1]
You guys should enjoy this one,
I got a ticket in Denver a few years back and went to the court date (which happened to be the day after Thanksgiving). Parked on Court and put an assload into the meter because I knew I was going to be in there a while. Come to find out there is only one spanish translator on duty and apparently people who can't speak English go first in Denver courts. Well three hours later I come out to my car and have a ticket, issued two minutes earlier, the meter maid isn't even 20ft. away yet.

That is a tough one to take. What a money making machine they have at the courts.

from their website they said they lost $20,000 on it last year.

I live in Boulder and don't agree that the Photo Radar intersections are the ones with the most accidents. I feel they are the ones with the most Revenue Generating Potential and where pulling a car over would cause lots of traffic delays. The ticket probably was not for speeding, more likely was for running red light. Pay the $40 and don't get Boulder mad at you.... ;?)
O0hh the "White Euro Van".... I forgot about that one. It's always on Folsom, between Valmont and Iris. [ROFL1]
The city has become an embarrassment nationally, nothing but an extension of the Berkeley or Madison mind-set of ignorance. They receive no discretionary income of mine and never will. Damn shame, I used to dig Boulder in 70’s, maybe I’m just getting old but what a turd-fest that place has become.

Yup, guess he's right. I did forget about that one as well. There is also another when taking a cut through to BCHospital, not far from the Ideal markets.

In England there are fixed speed cameras EVERYWHERE. There was a guy on the news who had one outside his house and parked his car on the street in front of it. Every time the camera was triggered it caught his plate too and he kept getting fines :D

Not sure how it works up there exactly but here in Arizona you are not required to pay until you get served. Here you have the right to face your accuser. A camera can't accuse you and it is not legal to serve papers through the USPS, it has to be done in person. Well they aren't going to spend a lot of money on people to serve papers so 9 times out of 10 they just don't serve you. I've had a few, never paid, no warrants or anything else. Anybody know the specifics up there? I'm moving in two weeks and would like to know.

The hot weather in AZ is sounding better all the time.

Go central and north (e.g. Prescott), perfect weather. I plan on retiring in that area in ~14 years...unless the socialist and leftist trash from CA ruin it too.

The state isn't renewing the contract with Redflex which owns and operates the cameras so they are all coming down on the 15th. There is a voter initiative going to be voted on in Nov to make them illegal in the state so they wont be back. Even with all the great gun laws, anti-illegal immigration laws and everything else getting passed it's not worth the heat. That's why I'm getting out of here. Besides that, it's a great place to be. Very very very conservative and the laws are very good/limited.
Did the picture only get your front plate? If so, sounds like an easy solution to me.

Some municipalities have been busted for setting their yellow light timer illegally low to make more revenue with these. I believe the term I am looking for to describe those people would be: asshats.

Whats the officer number on the ticket, Sniper.. I think they only have two officers reviewing those photo tickets.. one of them we know pretty well from working as off duty officer in couple clubs downtown.

I saw the In CO you need Front and back plates. Shitty. Trust me I thought about it

oh no, they have 3 color photos on the paper they sent me. frontal view of the whole car with plate, driver close up but my tinted windows obscured my face, and a rear photo close up of the rear plate.
it was for speeding thanks to the van. no red lights. it was $40, I paid it, am pissed about it, and won't be back to boulder any time soon. fuck boulder.
so sucks for me but at least it was only $40, it doesn't go on your record, so insurance doesn't know about it. just another way for the city to rape citizens trying to make a buck off them.

I am out of town but will try to get the info tonight and PM it to you. I already paid it, so unless he can issue a refund to my card it is too late.
