I was carrying my Ruger LCP in a Desantes Nemesis pocket holster Saturday night when I took my wife to the movies, Hot Tub Time Machine, everyone 40 and above will enjoy this flick, but I digress. I'm left handed so my LCP was in my left front pocket of my pants. The theater is typical of most, the seats have middle arm rests with big plastic cup holders on the ends. I must have sat down, crossed my legs, etc the "right" way against the cup holder because it depressed the mag release, and ejected the full magazine. Problem was that I didn't notice this until we got home and I was putting it in the safe. Had I needed it I'd have had 1 shot then who knows. I wish the mag release was reversible. Anyway, it will be something I'll have to be aware of from now on. Yes, to answer any questions ahead of time, the magazine was fully inserted and locked in place before I left my home ;?)
Has this ever happened to anyone else?
I guess this is more of a problem for southpaws.
I've hit the mag release one my right handed M&Pc before while in an IWB holster on my hip at about 4pm. The mag didn't ever fall completely out of the gun though. It was when I first started carrying and was using a Desantis Tuck This holster. I found that if I wore it too far behind my hip, my hip would actually hit the mag release when I sat in a chair just the right way.
Did you get the magazine back?
Yeah, I forgot to ask that as well. Did the mag fall out of your pocket?

No, didn't fall out of my pocket and stayed in the gun, just never would've chambered another round unless I reinserted it properly.

I carried mine in my pocket a few times before I got a holster for it and had trouble with the mag coming un locked a few times

Well after the first shot and then fail to feed...TAP RACK BANG.
That is so long as it stayed somewhat in the gun.

Provided you don't use "hot +p" ammo, cleaned after every use, what do you think the life of an LCP is? I've been a Glockman for nearly 20 years, never owned a non-glock pistol but when I look at the LCP I'm thinking 500-1000 rounds....then sell it, thoughts?
.38 snubbies don't do that. [Tooth]

The LCP/P3AT are guns which you want to shoot just enough to know what you can do with them and to know they work (when clean with good ammo).
Definitely not high round count guns. I had maybe 500 rounds in my KT and 100 or so through my LCP.

Give it to my girl. She'll find a way to open it up when she pulls it out. Some duck tape will keep it closed though.
