So almost exactly thirty years ago Mount St. Helens erupted.

Please share any stories or experiences. I was three and a half and I don't remember it.

I do remember when Reagan got shot the following year though.

Sunsets were "killer" as a result of the global ash cloud (refraction I believe?).

This, Plus it was a pain in the arse to wash cars for awhile. Seemed like there was a nice reddish hue to everything until about the end of june..

The place I worked at had a swimming pool and the lifeguards were skimming out a thin layer of mud for a couple of weeks.

"Snot rockets" were interesting for awhile. [Tooth]

Remember this ol’ cat, quite the character and always good for a story or two, Harry R. Truman (I had to look him up, did not remember the name just the cantankerous spirit).
Quote from Harry in early 80'; "If the mountain goes, I'm going with it.” And ironically enough…he did!

I was almost 15 - it erupted on my brother's 16th birthday...it really freaked him out and he has had issues with his birthday ever since (honest!).

I also remember all of the news coverage and interviews with Harry Truman. I haven't forgotten his name (the "R" coming before "S"...Harry S. Truman who approved the drop of the A" bomb and was born in Independence, MO as I was). I was freaked out to think that this guy was buried in 50+ feet of ash, etc. within seconds of the eruption. Dumba$$.

Geesh. Spooky!

I was six. I remember asking my dad if Pike's peak would erupt like Mt. St. Helens.
