Ok NRA members and Nevada residents – I an in a quandry... .

I was reading my latest edition of NRA’s “America’s First Freedom” magazine and came across an article about the opening of a shooting facility in Nevada...
And get this: They were PRAISING Harry Reid for helping to acquire the land and funding.
Why, when there are so many things wrong with the GOVT, would you tout having a criminal, soulless politician wrangling funding and land from the American people - EVEN IF IT IS for a shooting range.
Why in the WORLD would you hang with Harry Reid?

Sen. Harry Reid shoots his personal 12-gauge shotgun during the grand opening of the Clark County Shooting Park in Las Vegas Saturday, March 27, 2010.

Bolt action goose gun for Harry - it really says "I do not approve of semi-auto guns".
"That is why I carry it this way". (http://i.ytimg.com/vi/flbzbFbKxK0/0.jpg)

When did Harry Reid become Pro-gun?

This guy gets a 71 positive rating from The Brady Campaign (http://www.votesmart.org/issue_rating_detail.php?r_id=1966)...
He would eat his own young to stay in office at this point.

What is wrong with the NRA?

Don’t they know that if you lay down with dogs – you wind up smelling like a dog?

I am a Patron member in the NRA – I think it is time for them to become firmer in their moral stance.
I will be writing in to tell them that this type of crap will not be tolerated by me.
I will not be a member of ANY organization that cozys up to the likes of this criminally negilent public 'servant'.
I am not sure about this... every fiber of my being screams that this is a HUGE mistake by the NRA and I do not like it.

1). It is 'playing' politics at a time when EVERY AMERICAN should be concerned with throwing bums like Reid out of office and into jail as a criminal.
2). It will cost the NRA members.
3). It will harm the NRA's remaining credibility.

It is time for the NRA to become more of a ‘No-Compromise” lobby.

This happened the weekend that the Teaparty was in town... what a snub - LaPierre should have been at THAT gathering.

With Tea Party in town, Harry Reid helps open shooting park

As the Tea Party Express rolled into Searchlight (http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2010/mar/27/day-tea-party-events-set-kick-reids-hometown/) on Saturday, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid wasn’t home. Instead, he spent his morning at the grand opening of the Clark County Shooting Park, firing a shotgun at one of the facility’s new ranges.
“Everyone has said this is the greatest park in the United States of America, but I say it’s the greatest gun park in the world,” Reid said.
Reid helped to secure land and $61 million for the 2,900-acre facility under the Southern Nevada Public Lands Management Act. He was joined at the ribbon-cutting ceremony Saturday by National Rifle Association of America Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre, Rep. Shelley Berkley, Rep. Dina Titus, state Sen. John Jay Lee and Clark County Commissioner Tom Collins.
Reid practiced shooting at one of the ranges, firing six rounds from a 12-gauge shotgun and hitting two clay birds. Each clay bird busted into pieces and the crowd cheered as Reid reloaded the gun. Collins also fired several rounds.
Shooting at the park, on the northern edge of the valley, costs $7 per day for rifles, pistols and archery and $6 per 25-bird round for shotguns.
It has an archery range and building with a 30-seat classroom, a rifle and pistol range, and a shotgun center and 80 spaces for recreational vehicles.
LaPierre said the park is expected to be a tourist attraction with 35,000 to 40,000 people expected to participate in shooting activities each year.
“I know how you worked,” LaPierre said to Reid before turning back to the audience. “(This) would not have opened without the work of Sen. Reid.”
Since the park first opened on weekends in January, Lee said more than 4,000 shooters have participated – which he called a significant amount considering the range hasn’t been advertising.
The park will also be used for educational purposes, Collins said. Many youth groups have visited the park to learn about shooting sports and gun safety, he said.
Michael Reese, 15, said he has been shooting for seven years and visits the park every other weekend with his father. It’s become a tradition for the two of them, he said.
“It’s a very nice facility,” Reese said.

So - what are your thoughts on this unholy alliance?

The NRA downgraded Ron Paul.
Arguably the most pro-Constitutional -
pro-gun rights representative we have.

Now they are PRAISING Harry Reid???

Hmmmmmmm........

The NRA is... well... the NRA. what more can I say.

+1 Although I'm I life member, they lost my continued support years ago. Now I do what I can for GOA and JPFO instead. At least their view of my rights agrees with my view of them.

has the NRA endorsed reid or done anything positive on his behalf other than praising him for this shooting range? if so then i agree the NRA leaders need to pull their head out. however, praising reid for working to open this range is the correct thing to do. i think reid is a worthless scumbag, but when someone does something good you have to acknowledge it. i dont know all the details here, and there could very well be some that change our idea of both men.
i am a life member of the NRA, and i think they do good work. there are other pro-gun groups that do good work too, but there is strength in numbers, if membership is siphoned off the NRA to other less powerful groups it hurts all of us. i am not saying not to join other groups, i think EVERY gun owner should be a contributing member to at least one group. if you think some other group more correctly represents your rights and views, by all means contribute to the cause, but please DON'T dissuade people from joining the NRA. we need all the members and contributions we can get in todays political climate. think of it like this, if there is a three way race for president next time with a third party candidate (tea party), who loses? the republican loses. some of you might say fine, but the reality is that a bad republican is still better than obama.
encourage all of your gun owning/ shooting friends to join some group. i for one will not sell a gun to a person who voted for obama, or a person who is not an NRA member. if they cant support our rights, then they have already agreed to give them up.
